ENVI 413: Introduction To Environmental Engineering
There is a clear link between the environment engineering, with modification in one another having a
good or bad impact on the other. Engineering is a profession that utilizes the qualities of matter and
energy sources to construct structures. It is directly tied to the environment because it is the source of
machinery, systems, products and etc. The environment in which humans obtain resources, particularly
for our daily needs. This simply means that as long as engineering is utilized to use resources in a non-
abusive manner while also caring for, protecting, and conserving the environment, issues will be avoided
and the ecosystem will be able to provide for the people who live in it. It is critical that the engineering
profession makes optimal use of the resources offered by the environment in a way that allows for long-
term sustainability in order to avoid environmental imbalances that will ultimately benefit humanity.
Engineers studies the environment on how to contain it. It is critical for engineers to consider our
environment in order for it to be preserve.
Discussion Question No. 2
Recommend mitigating measures to prevent and solve the following environmental problems:
a. Pollution
Air pollution can be mitigated by limiting the use of vehicles when traveling nearby destinations.
Proper waste disposal must be strictly adhered to avoid water and land pollution.
b. Global warming
<Answer here>
c. Overpopulation
By implementing programs that will help every person to have enough knowledge on the
impacts of over poplulation towards the environment such as teaching sex education at schools
and free access to contraceptives
d. Waste disposal
Every household must adhere to the importance of waste segregation. Reducing, reusing, and recycling
are the important things that every single person must know. Hazardous chemicals must not be freely
disposed in sewages but each community must have a systematic way to dispose it.
e. Ocean acidification
This can be avoided by introducing measures to minimize people's carbon dioxide emissions, similar
to how overpopulation should be addressed. Other carbon dioxide emitters should be halted or
prohibited from continuing to emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which causes ocean
acidification.
f. Loss of biodiversity
Promoting the use of renewable energy and reducing overharvesting.
g. Deforestation
Government must impose strict laws and policies to prevent loggers from excessively cutting
down trees by sending authorities immediately to reported cases of such. People should also
avoid burning garbages nearby forests.
