1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Lifting Analysis
Lifting analysis is performed to check the strength and integrity of the RSS Arch structure during the
onshore and offshore lift condition using Happy Star Vessel (Biglift) and DLV2000 barge crane
(DLV2000) based on installation analysis performed by Dubai CSE, ref. [5]. The design is based on the
dynamic lift weight and includes the effects of dynamic amplification, skew effects due to sling
mismatch, CoG shift, consequence factors and sling geometry as outlined in structural design
premise, ref. [3].
Members and tubular joint checks are performed to AISC 9th Ed., ref.[15] and API RP 2A-WSD,
ref.[10]. No increase in allowable stresses is considered. Analysis results shows that the RSS Arch
design can withstand the applied loads during the both of Happy Star (Biglift) and DLV2000 crane
barge conditions.
The padeye is designed for maximum sling loads, padeye drawing and calculated refer to Local Design
Report, ref. [7]
Transportation Analysis
Transportation analysis is performed to check the adequacy of RSS Arch design to sustain the loads
that may occur during transportation of structure for both conditions from the Batam fabrication
yard, Indonesia to Nouakchott, Mauritania by Happy Star (Biglift) barge and from Nouakchott,
Mauritania to FPSO offshore site on an assumed 300ft class barge standard.
The analysis has been performed for the selected transportation orientation and support
arrangement. The tow parameters and load combinations are as per structural design premise, ref.[3]
Members and tubular joints have been code checked according to AISC 9th Ed., ref.[15] and API RP
2A-WSD, ref.[10]. No increase in allowable stresses is considered. The analysis showed that the
structural strength of the RSS Arch members and joints are adequate for the design transportation
loads in both conditions.
1.2 Results

2 INTRODUCTION
The production system ties back approximately 70km to a spread moored FPSO positioned at the
shelf edge in 100-120m water depth. The FPSO undertakes gas pre-treatment before exporting the
gas 35km to a nearshore hub and terminal facility where the gas is liquefied and offloaded to LNG
carriers.
The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and
pre-commissioning of the whole subsea system except for the CPIs where the engineering,
procurement and construction will be carried out by BHGE.

recommended, ref.[11].
Sensitivity studies of shifting the lift COG within an envelope of ±0.8m longitudinally and ±0.55m
transversely are performed. To simulate COG shift, the required couple forces as shown in table below
are applied in the load combinations. The hook point is also relocated to the new COG position.

5 TRANSPORTATION ANALYSIS
5.1 General
This report presents two sea transportation conditions as:
The methodology all same for both cases, only input data and results shall be separated in report
5.2 Introduction
A static analysis has been performed to determine the design forces for combinations of gravity,
barge motion induced accelerations, and wind loads. The weight of the model with all relevant loading
matches the WCR RSS structure weight in installation condition.
The Arch of RSS structure transportation supports are assigned as vertical only restraint for gravity
loads and pinned supports during transportation and the sea fasteners are considered as pinned
supports in the transportation analysis.
The sea-fastening design refer to ref.[6], The sea-fastening arrangement is indicative only for RSS
structural design check purposes. The sea-fastening design shall be de-coupled from barge, hence,
barge deformation, and barge stiffness are not necessary to be considered.
The Figure 26 indicates the Arch of RSS structure supports location and centre of rotation on barge
during transportation. Support condition considered in the structural analysis is as shown in Figure 28
Grillage (transportation support members) and sea-fastening are modelled, and two-stage analyses
are carried out to appraise the true load distribution through the vertical support and sea-fastening
members:
• Stage 1 Gravity loads are distributed on the four (04) vertical supports (without sea-
fastening) by providing full restraints.
• Stage 2 Motion induced unit loads are distributed to the four (04) vertical supports secured
by the sea-fastening braces. During transportation grillage is presumed to be tack welded so
the shears are transferred by grillage.
The combination of both analyses gives a realistic split of forces between the vertical supports and
sea-fastening braces. The forces are then combined using SACS COMBINE features with load
combination defined in combined input file. SACS POST processing is used to perform member and
joint code checks. Refer Figure 29 for the support boundary conditions.
Analysis is performed based on motion parameters specified in the RSS Design Premise Report [3].
Results of these two independent analyses are combined to obtain resultant member forces and joint
reactions. Structural members and tubular joints are code checked in accordance to AISC 9th Ed. and
API RP 2A-WSD with allowable stress increase factors as defined by Table 5

Note: 1 – Adjust accelerations based on NTEI Arch of 400MT instead of 382T for Happy Star Vessel

The tow motion parameters considered are based on 300ft class barge for transportation from
Nouakchott to offshore FPSO site (condition 2) as per section 6.9.1 of Design Premise ref.[3] and
tabulated in below table.
The acceleration values for each condition based on the motion parameter is calculated as follows:
2
2π
Angular acceleration : θ
T
Linear acceleration (Lateral) : (1±h) sinθ
SACS generated wind loads are used to derived wind forces for RSS structures. The WINDCARD
option in SACS is adopted to generate these wind loads
• Length = 155.97 m
• Width = 29.00 m
• Depth = 13.20 m
• Draft = 9.10 m
The motion accelerations provided by Biglift have been provided at the COG of RSS Tower. Therefore,
the centre rotation input in SACS is RSS Tower COG coordinates and present in Figure 26
The 300ft class standard barge dimension considered for RSS Arch structure transportation analysis
(condition 2) is as follows, for details refer to Annex F:

The inertia loads tabulated in above Table were generated considering the unit acceleration values
for linear and rotational accelerations as per the following coordinate system:
• Linear Accelerations
SURGE - along X axis in SACS coordinate system
SWAY - along Y axis in SACS coordinate system
HEAVE - along Z axis in SACS coordinate system
• Angular/Rotational Accelerations
ROLL - about X axis in SACS coordinate system
PITCH - about Y axis in SACS coordinate system
Notes:
1. Moments about SACS origin
These inertia loads will be factored suitably in load combinations.

5.15 Conclusion
Analysis results show that all Arch of RSS structure members and joints stresses are within allowable
limits. Therefore, it can be concluded that Arch of RSS structure is adequately sized to resist the
anticipated load during transportation and lifting conditions.
The results of analyses present in this report show that the design of Arch of RSS is suitable for pre-
service conditions.
5.16 Recommendation
The current sea-fastening configuration assumed in the structured analysis shall be reflected in the
final sea-fastening design by Dubai CSE.
