INTRODUCTION

Francisco Oringo Sr. Elementary School offers “preventive


treatment” on drugs and alcohol through education. We are
committed to helping the pupils stop addiction before it begins,
and it is for this reason that the teaching staffs tackle the issue
before it becomes a problem through different programs activities
and with the partnership of Local Government Unit (LGU) and
Philippine National Police (PNP).

Why is drug education so important to have in schools?


Drug education programs lower the percentage of school-
aged children abusing drugs and alcohol. The importance of this
cannot be understated, because it’s been found that young
people who have abused drugs early in life are more likely to
become addicted than those introduced to drug use after the age
of 21.
Kids who have received prevention messages early on in life
are significantly less likely to do drugs than those who have not
received such messages.
As an additional note, kids with parents who are involved in
educating the child about drugs, have dinners with their children,
and have shown that they disapprove of drug abuse are less likely
to abuse drugs. In fact, just eating dinner and talking with your
child five to seven nights a week lowers the chances of the child
abusing drugs.
Honestly, the most effective drug education is where the
parents and school teachers are both working together. showing
they care and actively communicating with the child on a regular
basis. This is the best way to prevent future drug addiction.
Additionally, it helps the child see that if they become entangled
in drugs, there are people who care enough to help them and
won’t support and enable their harmful habit.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS


All these accomplishments were influenced by the
commitment of the entire staff including the school principal, Ma.
Angelica E. Figueroa and some government officials who have
committed to make things happen even amidst of some
difficulties.

DARE PROGRAM

DARE Officer , PO1 Rena Gencianos, of PNP – Gensan,


educates the FOSES pupils following the module set by their
office. With PO1 Eugene Q. Wong.
They started teaching the pupils in our School on November
11, 2014. As scheduled, DARE Officers were teaching twice a
week to cater all the lessons.
Sample lessons taugh were Introducing DARE, Understanding
the effects of mind altering drugs, Considering Consequences,
Changing beliefs about drug use, Learning Resistance Techniques-
ways to say NO and building self-esteem.
On March 20, 2015, the 133 respondents of the said program
will graduate.

NDEP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BARANGAY COUNCIL

Barangay City Heights is always been our partner in molding


the youth, especially our pupils.
On October 28, 2014, the barangay spearheaded by Hon.
Lourdes F. Casabuena, Brgy. Captain, imitated the Children’s
Month Celebration. Included in the program was a symposium
about Drug Awareness and Prevention. They also tapped the
PDEA to carry out the goal of the symposium for the pupils and
selected teachers.
