EGOTISM, self-esteem:

The main idea of the rubric egotism is a person’s sense of self-esteem


or self-Importance.
In psychoanalysis, the ego is the part of the mind that mediates
between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for
reality testing and a sense of personal identity.

VERATRUM ALBUM:
Veratrum is predominantly a Syco-syphilitic remedy.

In veratrum album, it is notable that its main feeling is of being


excluded, plus the fear of losing social position. He is thrown out of
his job, his kingdom. He is out, he is desperate and in a panic, so he
tries to hold on to what has been lost.

Veratrum album has the ―Delusion he is in communication with


God, which probably makes him feel included. Even if he is thrown
out by the rest of the world, at least he belongs to or with God, which
is a very secure feeling. There will be egotism and boasting. He
shows he is worthy of inclusion, and holding onto his lost position.

SENSITIVITY:
It is a high self-esteem remedy. They are especially concerned about
their position in society. Thus people holding high posts or their
wives after retirement when they do not get the respect which they
once enjoyed start suffering from some disease. People who suffer
from heavy losses in business which causes loss of status can also
come down with complaints.

DEFENCE:
On account of their high self-esteem, they become haughty and
egoistic and suffer consequences of wounded honour and pride.
