DUE DATE AND TIME: [Week 11] Friday 28th May 2021 by 8:00pm (AEST)
PERCENTAGE OF FINAL GRADE: 30%
Time: 10 Minutes

Description / Requirements
This assessment is to take the form of a job interview for a managerial position in the sport industry.
Students will video themselves providing oral responses to the following four interview questions:
1) Describe your ideal job in the sport industry, along with the skills and strengths that you bring
which will allow you successfully perform in that role.
 As part of this answer consider both the sector (e.g., professional, grassroots, not-for-
profit, etc) and the functional area (i.e., marketing, sales, community relations, etc).
2) Describe a time where you have experienced a setback in your work life (or other area facet of life)
and explain how you responded along with the outcomes of your response.
 As part of this answer consider the STAR method (situation, task, action, result) as noted on
CloudDeakin.
3) Explain what you have learned from your completed self-evaluations (i.e., Assessment 2 Part A) and
how this will impact your future work in the sport industry.

4) Reflect on your recent team project experience with colleagues (i.e, Assessment 1), along with your
recent learnings on team dynamics, and explain what effect these factors will have on your future
work in team settings within the sport industry.

Students should ensure that they are clearly visible and audible in the video. Students are encouraged to
make the video as realistic as possible and clearly demonstrate a professional approach to the interview.
Remember that this is a ‘dream job’ scenario, where you are trying to put your best foot forward and stand
out from the crowd in order to provide yourself with the best chances possible for selection.
*Please refer to the Assessment 2 Part B rubric on CloudDeakin for details on how submissions are evaluated.

Learning Outcomes
This task allows you to demonstrate achievement towards the unit learning outcomes. The ULOs are
aligned with specific graduate learning outcomes – that is, the skills and knowledge graduates are expected
to have upon completion of their studies – and this assessment task is an important tool in determining
achievement of those outcomes.
If you do not demonstrate achievement of the unit learning outcomes, you will not be successful in this
unit.
It is good practice to familiarise yourself with the ULOs and GLOs as they provide guidance on the
knowledge, understanding and skills you’re expected to demonstrate upon completion of the unit. In this
way they can be used to guide your study.
Learning outcomes that are aligned to this task are provided in the following table:

Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO) Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO)

ULO 2: Evaluate the opportunities and GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities
limitations different management and GLO2: Communication
communication styles contribute to GLO7: Teamwork
shared goals and outcomes.
ULO 3: Relate sport organisation GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities
behaviour theory and practice to GLO2: Communication
personal and professional career goals. GLO6: Self-management

Marking and feedback

The marking rubric for this task will be available in the MMS714 CloudDeakin unit site - in the
Assessment folder (under Assessment Resources).

It is always a useful exercise to familiarise yourself with the criteria before completing any assessment
task. Criteria act as a boundary around the task and help identify what assessors are looking for
specifically in your submission. The criteria are drawn from the unit’s learning outcomes ensuring they
align with appropriate graduate attribute/s.

Identifying the standard you aim to achieve is also a useful strategy for success and to that end,
familiarising yourself with the descriptor for that standard is highly recommended.

Students who submit their work by the due date will receive their marks and feedback on CloudDeakin
15 working days after the submission date.

Extensions
Extensions will only be granted for exceptional and/or unavoidable circumstances outside the student’s

consideration after the due date must be submitted via StudentConnect.

approved extension: 5% will be deducted from available marks for each day up to five days, and work that
is submitted more than five days after the due date will not be marked and will receive 0% for the task.

'Day' means working day for paper submissions and calendar day for electronic submissions. The Unit Chair
may refuse to accept a late submission where it is unreasonable or impracticable to assess the task after
the due date.

Calculation of the late penalty is as follows: this is based on the assignment being due on a Friday at 8:00pm
