Locking Tabs
Each inner rail has a locking tab that locks the chassis into place when the unit is installed. These tabs
also lock the chassis in place when the unit is extended from the rack. They are designed to prevent the
system from coming completely out of the rack when the chassis is pulled out for servicing.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the inner rail on the other side of the chassis.
6. Pull out the rear of the outer rail, adjusting the length until it fits within the posts of the rack.
7. Hang the hooks of the rear portion of the outer rail onto the slots on the rear of the rack. Use screws
to secure the rear of the outer rail to the rear of the rack.
3. Slide the inner rails on the chassis into the middle rails on the rack. Keep the pressure even on both
sides until the locking tab of the inner rail clicks into the front of the middle rail. The chassis should
now be locked into the fully extended position.
4. Press the locking tabs down on both sides of the unit at the same time and push the chassis all the
way back to the rear of the rack.
For added security, you can use screws to secure the chassis handles to the front of the rack.
Connecting to Power
Connect both power cords to an adequate power source. Using a UPS is strongly recommended.
Connect each of the two redundant power supplies to a separate electrical circuit for added
protection.
1. Navigate to: Public > 060 Transmissions and Specialty Servers > Software Release and choose the
highest software version number. AMP Gen-7 requires a minimum of software version 7.5.0. The
files you need are split into two self-extracting files.
NexioX.X: the main installation files
NexioX.X_Drivers_and_SAs: the most recent service alerts and drivers.
2. You can extract the installation files onto the root of a USB flash drive. This gives you a baseline
image to use in the future for backup and recovery.
3. Plug the USB flash drive into your AMP Gen-7 device. Browse to the latest Nexio Software Release
files and double-click NEXIOSetup.exe. When the pop-up displays, click Yes to copy the files onto
the local hard drive. Click No to run the installation from its location on the USB flash drive.
4. When the Nexio Setup application displays, you can use it to set up your AMP Gen-7 device.
3. Enter a filename, choose a location, and click Save. A pop-up will quickly indicate that the software
has generated a .dc (deployment code) file.
Secure the drive to the carrier with four screws. Use the four M3 flat-head screws included in the HDD
bag of your accessory box. Note that the screws used to secure the blank drive to the tray cannot be
used to install a hard drive.
Insert the hard drive and the drive carrier vertically into its drive bay. Keep the carrier oriented so that
the release button is on the bottom. When you push the drive to the back of the bay, the release handle
will retract.

Nexio AMP® Gen-7 Removing and Reinstalling the Chassis Cover
Use your thumb to push against the upper part of the hard drive handle. Push the hard drive into the
base until it clicks into place.
4. Place a new power supply module into the power bay and push it in until the tab clicks into place.
5. Plug the AC power cord back into the module. The replacement power module will automatically
power up.
CAUTION: Do not open the casing of any power supply.
6. Gently pull the power distributor from the chassis. Gently guide all the cables through the power
distributor housing.
7. Slide the new power distributor module into the power housing. Make sure that your slide the
cables through the bottom of the housing.
8. Reconnect all power cables, replace the power supply, and insert the plug into the wall.
Replacing Fans
Note. You can order a new fan using ICC part number 131-100014Q00.
Three fans provide cooling for the unit by circulating air through the chassis. The fans are hot-swappable
and can be replaced without powering-down the system.
2. Put a new fan into the space where you removed the failed fan. Make sure the arrows on the top of
the new fan point in the same direction as the arrows on the other fans in the unit.
Safety Information
Terms and Symbols
The following terms are used to identify certain conditions or practices.
WARNING: Identifies conditions or practices that can result in personal
injury or loss of life – high voltage is present. Un-insulated dangerous
voltage within the product’s enclosure may be sufficient to constitute a
risk of electric shock to persons.
RoHS Directive
Directive 2002/95/EC – commonly known as the European Union (EU) Restriction on Hazardous
Substances (RoHS) – sets limits on the use of certain substances found in electrical and electronic
equipment. The Directive took effect on July 1, 2006, and it refers to the following hazardous
substances:
Lead (Pb)
Mercury (Hg)
Cadmium (Cd)
Hexavalent Chromium (cr-VI)
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)
All relevant <Company Name> products either comply with the legislation or are exempt. For example,
spare parts supplied for the repair and upgrade of equipment sold before July 1, 2006 are exempt from
the legislation.
WEEE
The European Union (EU) Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE) deals with the collection, treatment, recovery, and recycling of electrical and electronic waste
products. The objective of the WEEE Directive is to assign the responsibility for the disposal of
associated hazardous waste to either the producers or users of these products. Producers or users are
required to recycle electrical and electronic equipment at end of its useful life, and must not dispose of
the equipment in landfills or by using other unapproved methods.
In accordance with this EU Directive, <Company Name> has affixed labels indicating that such products
must be properly recycled. Contact your local <Company Name> sales representative for information on
returning these products for recycling. <Company Name> equipment that complies with the EU directive
will be marked with a WEEE-compliant symbol, as shown here:
Power Cords
Use power cords that come with safety certifications.
Power cords must be compliant with the AC voltage requirements in your region.
The power cord plug cap must have an electrical current rating that is at least 125% of the electrical
current rating of this product.
The power cord plug cap that plugs into the AC receptacle on the power supply must be an IEC 320,
sheet C13, type female connector.
Be sure to disconnect the power supply before accessing the G8 chassis or its components.
Plug the power cords into a socket that is properly grounded before turning on the power.
Environmental Considerations
Notice where the power switch is on the chassis and notice where the power outlet is located in the
room containing the device. You may need to disconnect power in case of an accident or
emergency.
Take extra precautions when you work with high voltage. Be aware of your surroundings. It is not a
good idea to work alone.
Be sure to disconnect electrical power before you remove or install system components.
Be sure to turn the system off before you disconnect the power supply.
Use only one hand when you are working with powered-on electrical equipment. Using two hands
could cause electrical shock.
Use rubber mats specifically designed as electrical insulators when working with computer systems.
The power supply or power cord must include a grounding plug. The plug and must be plugged into
a grounded outlet.
ESD Guidelines
Follow these measures to protect against Electrictrostatic Discharge (ESD).
Use rubber mats that have been specifically designed as electrical insulators.
Use a grounded wrist strap designed to prevent static discharge.
Keep all components and printed circuit boards (PCBs) in their anti-static bags until ready for use.
Touch a grounded metal object before removing the board from the anti-static bag.
Do not let components or PCBs come into contact with your clothing. (Clothing may retain a static
charge even if you are wearing a wrist strap.)
Handle a board by its edges. Do not touch its components, peripheral chips, memory modules, or
contacts.
If you must handle chips or modules, avoid touching their pins.
Put the motherboard and peripherals back into their anti-static bags when not in use.
For grounding purposes, make sure your computer chassis provides excellent conductivity between
the power supply, the case, the mounting fasteners, and the motherboard.
