New traders at SMB are provided with a simulated trading platform called Lightspeed to practice trading with real market data, which has a standard layout and hotkeys optimized for training. Instructions are given for downloading Lightspeed and a VPN application for remote trading access, including platform guides and support contacts. Trainees will have market data and simulated trading access through Lightspeed until 8pm each weeknight to practice trading strategies.

Trading Simulator

New trainees at SMB are given our trading platform with a standard layout design and hot key configuration for
placing simulated trades using live data. Our trading platform is called Lightspeed. Lightspeed is a very stable and
fast execution platform with a large support staff that is just a call away if our traders have any issues. For new
traders, the platform layout has been configured to optimize a new trader's training. Avoid making excessive changes
to the platform layout.

Bellow are instructions for downloading your trading platform. Your demo login and password will be sent to you by
your Mentor.

Vista Users
If you are using Vista, download the Vista Users Installation Guide (only Vista users). The instructions must be
followed before installing Lightspeed:

Download Lightspeed
Download the latest version of Lightspeed at: 
https://download.lightspeed.com/LightSpeed7.0.160.msi

Download VPN
If you are training remotely download the VPN icon onto your desktop by visiting: 
www.smbtraining.com/software/VPN_Login_1.0.0.12.exe

Simply install Lightspeed like you would any other program, unless you are using the Vista OS. If you are using Vista
you must follow the Vista Users Installation Guide before installing Light Speed.

The VPN icon for remote trainees needs to only be downloaded on to your desktop, not installed. The VPN icon
works in conjunction with Lightspeed to make it possible to connect to the execution server from outside of our office.
Make sure the VPN icon is downloaded on your desktop or somewhere easily accessible. 

If you are training remotely, sign into your platform by clicking on the VPN icon, not the regular Light Speed icon. If
you are training in-office simply click on the Lightspeed icon to enter your login information. The Lightspeed icon is
yellow with a black ‘L’ in the center. The VPN icon is black with a yellow ‘L’ in the middle. 

You will have a live data feed for equities and futures until 8pm (EDT) every weeknight for the duration of the training
program, but there will be no NYSE Open Book available.

Helpful Hints
• Lightspeed uses your computer's clock to mark the time of every execution. All of your platform executions should
be in US Eastern Time, NYC time, therefore your computer should be set at US Eastern Time = (GMT -05:00)
Eastern Time (US & Canada).

• Data to demo platforms have a lower priority than data to live trading accounts. On highly volatile days you will
notice data delays because data is being redirected to live accounts. This is normal.

• If you are noticing general data delays while doing drills or paper trading try closing your training program, internet
browsers, or audio programs.

• Occasionally you may receive executions on the demo that you would normally not get in a live account. For
example, you may have orders far outside of the money that are executed in your favor because of late prints even
further out of the money. You may also have limit orders or sweep orders that execute several pennies outside of the
current spread. This is a limitation of the demo account and these occasional bad orders should be ignored.
