Know about PayPal:


PayPal is an American multinational financial-based technology company that
deals with the operation of the online payments system in most of the countries
that have permissions for online money transfers. Its progress with security in
money exchange and online bill payments etc. is widely used by various people
from various parts of the world.
Expectations from PayPal for a Software engineer role:
 Must be strong in communication skills to work with team members, to
create and organize storage systems.
 Must be very good at problem-solving and more interested in learning
new technologies and acquiring new skills.
 Having good knowledge in software development, maintaining the
software, testing of software.
 Should be strong with cloud platforms GitHub, Spring frameworks and
Jira.
 And must be strong in communication skills to work with team members
to create and organize storage systems.
 Must be very good at problem-solving and more interested in the process
of learning new technologies and acquiring new skills.
Interview Process:
There are 3-4 rounds in the selection process. Each round will check your
eligibility for the applied role. So, the questions are also mostly related to the
role and the details mentioned in your resume. So, adding extra unrelated things
to the resume may end up with bad results. So, better avoid fake things in your
resume. This interview process assesses your problem-solving ability and
spontaneous response after committing an error. The detection and rectification
of the error are mainly checked by the interviewer.

First Round:
It is a recruiter phone screen where they discuss general topics about your
projects and experiences. They also tend to know about the strength in your
areas of interest. Based on that they can judge your understanding and how
depth you possess knowledge in the areas that you like. So you should be
equipped strongly in your strong areas. It is an elimination round.
Second Round:
It is a technical phone screen with two engineers, in this process your coding
skills will be put to test. You should be strong in coding to clear the round.
Hands-on programming knowledge is more needed in this round to clear this
round. This round will evaluate your way of thinking to solve a particular
problem. This round may help the interviewer to judge your coding skills.
Starting from basic coding questions to the advanced coding question are put to
test your knowledge. The algorithm and flow of the programs are necessarily
explained to the interviewer. So they know your 
Third Round: 
You will have a take-home assignment with a deadline of completion of up to 5-
6 days. This assignment also tests your time management skills and how to use
the time properly to complete a particular task. The take-home assignments
mostly consist of problem-solving questions and they also have more problems
in the projects that are existing in the organization. 
Final Round:
The final round is the offline interview round, which includes nearly five
interviews, they are pair programming, designing systems, behavioural round,
project experience, and a hiring managerial interview.
Now we will see about each round in detail.
Recruiter Phone Screen:
The duration of the interview is a 30-minute call with the recruiter and will
mostly they will ask about projects and experiences of work.
The sample questions asked in this round are
1. Introduce yourself
2. What would you do in your leisure time?
3. Reason for quitting your current job
4. Why do you want to work at PayPal?

Technical Phone screen interview:


This is a one hour long coding test that tests your basic coding knowledge
through various types of questions starting from easy to difficult level. You may
have another couple of rounds based on your performance. 
The topics in which the questions are raised from
 Java programmingtra and JavaScript basics
 OOPs
 Data Structures
 Graph Theory
 Knapsack
 Spring Framework
 C, C++ languages

The sample questions are


1. Write a code to print the linked list in reverse
2. What is the difference between var, let, const. in JavaScript?
3. Write a program to find the breadth of a given tree.
4. Write a program to validate IPv4
5. What are the process and microtask queues in JavaScript?
6. Write a program to search an element in a sort and rotated array.
7. Design a program to do insertion and deletion are done with O(1) time
complexity.
Onsite Round:
The final round of the PayPal software engineering interview is the onsite
round. It consists of variou rounds that include pair programming, system
design, behavioral interview, Project interview experiences interview, and a
hiring interview. Before this, the onsite interview format call was made.
Key points to clear the Onsite round:
 Explain the code from your mind while writing the code. The interviewer
must know you’re writing a particular segment of code.
 Write short comments. So, it is easy to understand for others.
 Show your team playing skills as the interviewer wants to assess you in
this area.
Sample Coding Questions:
1. Write a code to find the number of rectangles on the chessboard.
2. Find the level order traversal from the given binary tree.
3. Describe singleton pattern
4. Write a code for printing a given matrix in spiral form.
5. Difference between comparator vs comparable?
6. Describe adapter design pattern in java?
System Design interview sample question:
By this round, the interviewer will test your system design skills by asking you
to create a high-level structure of a product. The difficulty level and the
importance of this round will change based on the role you are applying for. For
lower range, you will not be expected to be stay at system settings. For the
senior range role, you need to be fully equipped with extensive knowledge of
them both. The difficulty of the questions starts from easy and slowly increases
to the difficulty level.
Model System Design Interview Questions:
1. Create a school library system.
2. Design train ticket booking system.
3. Design a Tiny URL system.
4. Design a Chat application Facebook.
5. Design a ticket booking application like Book-My-Show.
These questions help to check your progressive error finding and solving ability
for a given task.
Project Experience Interview:
It is mostly a discussion of your details in your resume and your role in the
project and its experience. Some more technical questions drepends on your
projects may also be asked. This round also helps them to know about your
presentation skills, and your ability to communicate with each other and it also
helps to know your way of approaching a concept.
Key to Clear this process: 
It is most appropriate to use the STAR method to answer the behavioral
questions. The STAR represents Situation, Task, Action, Result. Focus high on
the result. By this, you can cover all areas the recruiter wants.
Sample Project Experience Question:
1. Describe the project lastly worked.
2. What are the points you learned in the project?
3. What are the difficulties you face in a project?
4. How did you fix a target and monitor their progress?
5. How would you involve yourself to finish the project?
Hiring Manager (HR) Interview:
This round consists of behavioral-based questions, which will consist of
situation-based questions.
Engineering Manager Questions:
Both technical questions and behavioral questions are asked in this round. This
round will check your attitude towards the higher officials given behavioral
managers.
Sample Hiring Manager and Behavioural Manager Questions:
1. How do you overcome a problem when you are stuck at a certain point?
2. How would you handle an escalated situation, if you are a product
support executive?
3. Explain the mistakes you made in your recent job? And how did you
handle it?
4. Are you comfortable with a team working?
5. Are you comfortable with location strains?
