‘C’ Level HR Professional. He has more than 20 years of
experience in HR, manufacturing, IT and supply chain,

Chief People Officer

Fong Tuan aims to make a difference, one life, one career


at a time, a technologist at heart. Growing up in a family
of teachers, he learned early in his career, what motivates
him is to nurture, grow and realize people's potential.
Though trained as an engineer, his passion is seeing people
and organizations succeed. With his engineering training
and exposure has help him see things differently from
FT. Chen which is better know as, is an expertise in innovating dynamic people programs, initiatives
and interventions to optimize employee experience and boost retention and engagement while
providing ongoing consultation and feedback as part of the executive team. The stellar outcomes
from his directing of effective and efficient people strategies have enabled all his organizations to
achieve targeted business objectives. All these are made possible by establishing solid and trusting
partnerships with stakeholder through exceptional relationship-building skills; utilizing positive
energy and interpersonal abilities to secure employee and management trust.
His experience lies in successfully directing organizational planning and development through
strategic people initiatives and programs, in multiple industries from utility to FMCG, financial
services, consulting, medical tech, property/real estate and global technology. Throughout his career
journey with large locals, regional outfits and global MNCs, he has managed the entire spectrum
of HR in a multitude of portfolios from talent management practices to process improvements,
talent development to performance management, from organizational design to rewards. He
established success in leading and guiding organizations positions to make significant contribution.
Fong Tuan started his career with Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia’s power utility company, where he
was a scholar. Discovering his passion to bridge the gap between data, influence and people, he
moved into the HR space holding senior HR leadership roles with global MNCs and blue-chip
corporations: Coca Cola, OCBC, Watson Wyatt, British American Tobacco, Maybank Group,
B. Braun Asia Pacific and most recently Samsung. He then joined to head HR for one of Malaysia’s
largest and most diverse consumer group – Berjaya Corporation. At Berjaya, Fong Tuan leads
the people strategy and execution, driving change and business transformation. He has been
recognized with multiple accolades including Southeast Asia HRM Watchlist, HR Excellence
Awards Grand Winner, HR Asia Best Company To Work For and Asia Recruitment Awards
amongst others.He is a qualified professional engineer, a first-class honours in Electrical &
Electronic Engineering degree, an MBA in Organizational Behavior and a Chartered Financial
