Procon Engineering
Introduction
Use these factory settings to set up the T96 computer program to the exact specification
as ordered by the customer. Agents and installation engineers are warned that if the
software settings do not match the hardware supplied then the system may not work
properly.
The set-up supplied by Procon Engineering is the set-up expected and paid for by the
customer. Installation engineers are advised not to change this set-up, especially in front
of the customer, as they will think that this is part of his program, and that they are allowed
to experiment with it.
If customers or agents experiment with the set-up supplied by Procon Engineering then
the customers may become confused as to exactly what facilities are available. This will
lead to dissatisfaction with the system.

Channel Selection Dialog
The Device (Channel) Selection dialog provides access to all
available analogue and digital devices know to the Procon
LDS software.
The devices are identified by three key properties that
become fixed once the channel is accepted:
● Board Manager – Identifies the board manufacturer.
● Board Name – This is the name of the board as given by
the manufacturer.
● Channel – The number of the channel as referenced in
the board specification.
(This property is not available when Add Board is selected.)
Some boards require additional properties to ensure correct reading of the analogue input
channels. To show these properties expand the Options group property. These properties
can be modified in the properties table.
An MccDaq analogue input channel has the following additional Options:
● Signal Adjustment – Use the upper 80% of the signal range only. Set true to adjust a
0-20mA signal to a 4-20mA signals. (Generally, this should be set to true for Procon
sensors.)
● Signal Range – This is the electrical signal range the channel uses. (This should be
set to Uni5Volts for Procon sensors.)
Caution: The full list of signal types is available for selection. Choose only those types
applicable to the sensor card used.
A Modbus analogue input channel has the following additional Options:
● Data Type – Select the data type for the data stored at this Modbus address.
The possible types are UShort, Short, ULong, Long or Float.
It is important to set the correct data type as this is used to determine if one or two
registers are used to represent the value.
After selecting the channel, press the OK button to enter the channel in the channel list.
Press the Cancel button to close the dialog without entering the channel in the list.
The Clear button is only displayed for spectrum channels and is used to disable that
spectrum input channel.

To change the password for this user, enter the password in both the Password field
and Confirm Password field then click on Set Password.
Note: The default password is empty.
Caution: Passwords are case sensitive. The system shows a warning message if the
passwords are not the same. Correct the error and try again.
Default User
From the drop-down, select the user automatically logged on as the initial user when the
Procon LDS first start.
To start the program with the currently logged in Windows user select (Windows Logon)
for the default user.
Security File Management
The user settings are held in a different location to the standard configuration data.
Therefore, when the program saves configuration file changes the user settings are not
saved.
● Save
After making changes to the user security data, press the Save button to save your
changes. If this is not done then the changes will be lost.
● Reload
To cancel any changes and see the current security data press the Reload button.
This loads the last saved user security data.
● Export to File
This button opens a file save dialog to archive the security settings to a separate file.
● Import from File
This button opens a file read dialog to retrieve a previously saved user security
archive.
Note: The newly loaded settings are not applied unless the Save button is pressed.
Using Microsoft Window User Accounts
Whenever a user name and password are required, the program checks the details
against the internal user security data for valid user credentials. If the program cannot find
a user, it then tests the credentials using the Microsoft Windows security system. It is
therefore possible to use Microsoft Windows defined user accounts with the Procon LDS
software.
If the user name and password are valid then Procon LDS assumes the user to be at the
level of Operator.
Note: The user is not logged on to the underlying operating system; the program only tests the validity
of the user credentials.
To enable a Windows user to configure Procon LDS fully requires that user to have the
Procon Administrator role. To achieve this, first create a group called “Procon
Administrator” and then add users to this group as necessary.
Note: Unlike Windows, which uses the underlying record number for roles, Procon LDS uses the role
name to identify the role.
