2. Assume suitable data, if necessary.

4. The answer should be written in short and explain with the help of figure(s) wherever required.

SECTION A: Answer all questions [5x 1]

Q.A. 1. Find the necessary and sufficient conditions that the function Z (s)  is positive real.

Q.A. 2. Write the necessary conditions for superposition theorem in order to apply in any network.

Q.A. 3. Find the time constant (in seconds) of a coil if a certain current energy stored in iron cored coil
is 1000 J and its copper loss is 2000 W.

Q.A. 4. Three identical resistors are connected in delta against a balanced three-phase voltage supply. If
one of the resistances be removed, then calculate the power reduction.

Q.A. 5. A 10Ω resistor, a 1 H inductor and 1uF capacitor are connected in parallel. The combination is
driven by a unit step current. Which element does the source current flow through under steady-
state conditions?

Q.C.1. Find z-parameters, h-parameters and T-parameters for the following network.

Q.C.2. A 4200-V, three-phase transmission line has an impedance of per phase. If it supplies a load of 1
MVA at 0.75 power factor (lagging), find:
(a) Complex power
(b) Power loss in the line
(c) Voltage at the sending end

Q.C.3. Synthesize in the Foster form the network given by the expression
