Fad Diet Assignment (65 points)  

Read thoroughly before beginning the assignment: 


There is no shortage of health and nutrition information online. But how can you determine if that
information is safe and realistic? This assignment is designed to teach you how to approach online
nutrition-related information with a critical eye and give you the tools necessary for determining whether
or not that information is evidence-based.  
To start, you will read an article from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that explains how to
identify a fad diet (https://www.eatright.org/health/weight-loss/fad-diets/staying-away-from-fad-
diets) and answer questions 1-6 below.  
The second article you will read describes the top 6 herbal teas for weight loss: https://the-

Using this article, you will then answer questions 7-13.

Answer questions 1-6 using the Academy article “Staying Away from Fad Diets” (5 points per
question)
