Another research suggest the many college students

making calls, checking documents, taking pictures, browsing
internet, downloading software, listening to music, taking videos,
watching movies, use as an alarm clock and use as a watch.
According to University of Michigan’s electrical Engineering and
computer science professor Elliot Soloway, “In a student’s capable
hands, especially with numerous features like a camera, GPS, and
an accelerometer, a cellular phone might as well be a rocket ship.
Beside, Oksman (2010), stressed that in addition to new
media, the traditional media such as newspaper radio and TV are
also made available on the cellular phone through the internet.
In addition, a study of a group of undergraduate students,
published in the journal computers in Human behavior in 2015,
found that among undergraduate student’s total cellular phone use
was “a significant and negative predictor of college student’s
academic performance, objectively measured as cumulative GPA”.
The study controlled for various other factors.
8
Furthermore, 2015 study by the London School of Economics,
conducted in four Cities in England, founded the test scores
increase more than 6% in schools which banned cellular phone.
Moreover, 2016 Researcher’s Duin & Gupta of Macquarie
University performed an experiment in 2016 testing the effect of
Facebook distraction in the classroom. The study found that
student’s interested in the subject material and the way it was
presented were less likely to be distracted by Facebook. However,
those same students with access phones still performed lower than
students that were not allowed to access to cellular phone during
the lecture.
Anda 2017 collective study published by Applied Cognitive
Psychology, found that students retained less knowledge when
allowed to use or have cellular phone on them during lectures.
During the Experiment, students that were not allowed access to
cellular phone tested better than the students that had access to
cellular phones.
Another works by Xinchua (2014) Filipinos are using their
cellular phones not only to communicate but also as a mobile
computer as well, according to recent market study issued.
Lastly, TNS global customized research company, said in its
report that Filipino consumers are not just using cellular phones
and texting messages and photos, but also a means of internet -on-
the-go-allowing users to be always online of the 38,000
respondents in Metro Manila, 75% of the respondents surveyed
used cellular phones to take photos or videos, 45% to browsed the
internet, 44% to access their social networking sites and 372 to
check their emails, the study conducted from November 2012 to
January 2013. “Based on the findings of the study, the increase in
various mobile activities explain the growing trend of Wi-Fi
accessibility in public areas, “Said TNS Philippines managing
Director Gary de Ocampo.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter described the research methodology used in the
investigation. It discussed the research design, locale of the study,
respondents and sampling method, the date gathering process and
the statistical tools employed for data analysis.
Research Design
In this study the researcher used descriptive correlation
design. A descriptive design is about health, public mind, their
viewpoint and attitude, their effect of development or new both
described.
In this study the reason, the cellular phone (The reason why
we need cellular phone in our daily life) are being described and
correlated on their mental health, communication and advantage
and disadvantage of their study.
Approach
The fifteen students were selected randomly as a sample.
The questionnaire to answer were sent via messenger as the
researcher formulate a question.
11
Locale of the study
The respondents of the study were the people and students who
are using cellular phone and invited to participate the interview.
This research used to random technique to determine the
respondents which no bias issue.
Data Collection
The researcher collected the data for this research using
questionnaire. The questionnaire questions distributed to the
people who are always using cellular phone and students at
Malandag Institute Incorporated.
