North Polar Area, dated 6/10/08.
2. CFR 14, Part 135, Sections .364, .411, Appendix G and .89
(Polar Ops)

Background:
Advisory Circular 135-42 (Ref 1) provides additional guidance to
the FAA ETOPS rules (Ref 2) which were issued in January 2007.
These rules become effective in August 2008 and apply to
operators wishing to conduct operations beyond 180 minutes
(single engine speed) from an airport (meeting certain criteria). This
AC does not apply to Part 91 operations.
The purpose of this memo is to define the 180 minute (single
engine) diversion distances for G150/200 models. This information
will allow an operator to determine whether ETOPS capability
(greater than 180 minutes) is necessary to operate their desired
routings.
NOTE: The distances provided in this OIS are based upon a simplified
analysis. A more detailed analysis will be available in the 4th Quarter of
2008 and this OIS will be updated then. The distances in this OIS are
conservative and are expected to increase slightly with the publishing of
the more detailed analysis.

Applicability:
This OIS applies to the G150 and G200 airplanes operated under
FAR 135.

Incorporation:
Operators wishing to incorporate this data should place this
supplement in the “Operational Information Supplements” section
of their Airplane Flight Manual.
NOTE: AFM section numbers may vary depending on model. All sections,
however, are included in each AFM.

GAC-OIS-05 180 MINUTE DISTANCES (NON-ETOPS) FOR FAR 135 OPERATORS: G150 & G200
BASIC ISSUE: AUGUST 11/08 Page 1
OPERATIONAL INFORMATION SUPPLEMENT
GAC-OIS-05

Discussion:
CFR 14, Part 135.364(a) states “no certificate holder may
operate… on a planned route that exceeds 180 minutes flying time
(at the one-engine-inoperative cruise speed under standard
conditions in still air) from an Adequate Airport outside the
continental United States unless the operation is approved by the
FAA in accordance with Appendix G of this part, Extended
Operations (ETOPS).”
To define the non-ETOPS Area-Of-Operation (distance flown in
180 minutes on one engine) the distance provided in Table 1
should be used. Table 1 presents the maximum weight (and
resulting distance) at which it would be expected to have a 180
minute diversion. These values would be conservative for cases in
which a diversion occurred later in the flight.
The 180 minute distance values contained in Table 1 below are
intended to represent the maximum capability of the airplane and
are based on single engine cruise speeds well above single engine
Long Range Cruise (LRC). The intent of these speeds is to allow
operators the maximum flexibility for operating non-ETOPS. As
with all flight planning, operators should carry sufficient fuel and
oxygen to address possible scenarios (examples include diversions
resulting from an engine failure and/or loss of cabin pressurization).
NOTE: In reference to Table 1, individual operators have the option to
develop their own single engine speed and range capability.
