EMOTIONS VOCABULARY LIST

AMAZED
▶ Adjective
 Greatly surprised, astounded, filled with wonder, e.g. I am
amazed to see how much your writing has improved!

CONFIDENT
▶ Adjective
 Having a strong belief or full assurance, e.g.
Rasa was confident he could get the essay
completed in time.

ENERGETIC
▶ Adjective
 Possessing energy, e.g. “I am feeling energetic today, I am going
to clean the whole house!”

GLAD
▶ Verb
 Feeling joy or pleasure, e.g. “I'm so glad it's
Friday today! Yay!
I'm glad that you are my friend.

JOYOUS
▶ Adjective
 Joyful, happy, jubilant, e.g. It was a joyous trip to the temple.

SURPRISED
▶ Verb
 A sudden feeling of wonder or astonishment due to something
unexpected, e.g. She was surprised they all came for her
birthday party.

TOUCHED
▶ Adjective
 Moved, stirred, e.g.“They were touched by the present I gave them.”
COMFORTABLE
▶ Adjective
 Relaxed e.g. She is feeling
comfortable sitting on the
plush sofa; Sarah was not
comfortable talking about her problems.

EAGER
▶ Adjective
 Keen or ardent in desire or feeling, e.g. He was eager to sing;
The children were all very eager to get their gifts.

ANGRY
▶ Adjective
 Feeling or showing a strong resentment, e.g. He was
angry that his mail hadn't arrived.

CONFUSED
▶ Adjective
 Perplexed or bewildered; unclear,
e.g. I am feeling confused about whether to study
dance or singing.

DISAPPOINTED
▶ Adjective
 Depressed or discouraged by failure or
unfulfilled hopes, e.g. He was disappointed that
she didn't pass the test.

FRUSTRATED
▶ Adjective (from the noun frustrate)
 Annoyed and angry, impatient e.g. It's frustrating for the teacher when
children don't listen .

IRRITATED
▶ Noun
 Angered, provoked, annoyed, e.g.”It's so
irritating when it rains!”

NERVOUS
▶ Adjective
 Worried, uneasy or apprehensive, e.g. I'm so nervous that I'm
going to fail the test; When I am called to the principal's office,
I feel nervous.

PUZZLED
▶ Adjective
 Confused but interested to solve the problem,
e.g.” I was puzzled at how he could come
during his lunch hour to fix the car”

SAD
▶ Adjective
 Unhappy, grieving, sorrowful or mournful, e.g. She was sad that her
mum couldn't come to watch her dance; I feel sad when I see small
puppies running on the road.

CONCERNED
▶ Adjective
 Worried, anxious, e.g. She was concerned about getting to
the class on time; I am concerned about you, are you eating
well?

EMBARRASSED
▶ Adjective
 Uncomfortably self conscious, feeling shy or ashamed e.g. He was embarrassed
by the stain on his t-shirt; Don't ask him whether he has paid or not, it will
embarrass him.

IMPATIENT
▶ Adjective
 Not accepting delay', e.g. She waited impatiently for
the bus; Don't be impatient, he will be here soon.

LONELY
▶ Adjective
 Feeling friendless, e.g. She felt lonely in the new
city because she did not know anyone there.

OVERWHELMED
▶ Adjective
 Feeling overloaded with work or emotion, e.g.
She was overwhelmed with the amount of
homework that she had to do; I am overwhelmed
with emotion and cannot speak without crying.

BORED
▶ Adjective
 Not entertained, e.g. He was bored watching the cricket
match; I feel bored when it rains because I can't go
outside to play with my friends.
