Hair coloring service is the practice of changing the color of the hair. It enhances the existing
hair color through the application of coloring compounds that can temporarily or permanently alter the color of
hair. The main reasons for having a hair color are to cover gray or white hair and to change the hair color to a
fashionable or desirable hair.
It is important for the stylist to organize the tools and materials needed prior to hair coloring by preparing the
following:

1.) Applicator bottle - a small pitcher-shaped bottle with a curved

or tapered neck used to supply liquids in small amounts to be
poured out in drops.

2.) Applicator brush - a brush which is used for applying coloring

compounds to the hair with a rat tail end handle.

3.) Mixing bowl - is a deep bowl that is particularly well suited

for mixing ingredients together in. These come in many materials,
such as stainless steel, ceramic, glass, and plastic.

4.) Ear cap - a cap or cover to protect the ear from cold.

5.) Sectioning Hair Clip – a clip used to fasten the hair during
sectioning in preparation of hair coloring service.

6.) Barrier Cream - any of several cosmetic creams applied to the

skin as a protective measure against dermatitis caused by chemical
irritants.

7.) Protective Cape - is a sleeveless outer garment, which drapes

to protect the wearer's back, arms and chest, and fastens at the
neck.
8.) Protective Gloves - personal protective equipment (PPE) that
protects the hand or part of the hand from hazards.

9.) Selected hair coloring product - a soluble substance that covers

the gray or white hair, make the hair more fashionable and
desirable by applying it to the hair.

10.) Shampoo – a liquid preparation that cleanse dirt and grease on

both hair and scalp.

11.) Conditioner - a liquid applied to the hair after shampooing to

improve its condition.

12.) Shower Cap - (also known as a bath cap) is a hat worn while

processing the hair color that is applied to the client’s hair.
