INTRODUCTION
I. HISTORY
That the goals of this Cooperative are to help improve the quality of life of its members and
thereby contribute to inclusive growth, enterprise development and employment.
II. MISSION
To improve the quality of life and enhance economic opportunities of the members of the
cooperative.
III. VISION
To become the best managed cooperative in the Region and provide maximum benefits to all its
members.
The DRDSNHS Consumer Cooperative Code of Ethics and Good Governance is developed for
the guidance of all members, officers, and employees of the cooperative. This Code outlines the
standards of conduct and general behavior that must be observed by the cooperative’s
stakeholders to ensure quality services with the right attitudes to avoid conflicts for smooth
operations of the cooperative.
V. CODE OF CONDUCT
In all our operations and relationships, the DRDSNHS Consumer Cooperative values
competence, commitment, honesty, integrity, justice, respect and responsibility to be able to
serve our stakeholders in order to improve their quality of life, enhance their economic
opportunities, and empower their self- reliance driven by love and genuine concern for the
welfare of others.
i. Act and perform my roles with utmost ethics, integrity, and trustworthiness;
ii. Act according to the By-Laws, policies, procedures, and ethical codes that
may apply;
iii. Make decisions fairly, impartially, and timely, considering all available
information, rules, policies and procedures;
iv. Treat fellow members and colleagues with utmost respect, courtesy, honesty
and fairness, and have proper regards for their interests, rights, safety, and
welfare;
vi. Contribute to the harmonious, safe and productive work environment through
our work habits, work ethics, and professional relationships.
vii. Use the resources and facilities of the cooperative in the best interest of the
cooperative, and shall not misuse these resources;
viii. Distinctively draw the line between the interests of the cooperative and our
private interests; Avoid possible conflicts of interests; and avoid accepting
gifts, invitations, favors, courtesies or other advantages nor offer the same
that would contradict this principle;
ix. Report incidents, risks, and issues which deviate from the cooperatives by-
laws, code of ethics and good governance, and other applicable policies.
iii. Report any breaches of the code of conduct and good governance
ii. Use the resources of the Cooperative diligently, efficiently, and responsibly,
which include but is not limited to the following: (1) office facilities and
equipment; (2) vehicles; (3) reimbursable and collectibles; (4) credit lines, and
the like.
iii. Not use official time or resources for personal or financial gains;
iv. Abide by the policies and guidelines on the use of office and communication
facilities;
v. Ensure that any travel for an official function or activity is only done when
absolutely necessary.
i. Ensure that personal or financial interest shall not be in conflict and create
undue influence with my ability to perform my official duties and
responsibilities;
ii. Manage and declare any conflict between my personal interests and official
duty.
This Code has been developed to encompass an environment of good governance, in which all the
members/officers/stakeholders of the cooperative shall perform with their tasks.
a. General Principle
DRDSNHS Consumer Cooperative members/officers/stakeholders are required not
only to have ethical commitments, a personal resolve to act ethically, but to also have
ethical awareness and ethical competency. Ethical awareness is defined as the ability
to discern between what is right and what is wrong. Ethical competency refers to the
ability to engage in sound moral reasoning and carefully consider the impact and
implications of alternative actions.
b. Specific Principles
i. Genuine Service to Others
1. DRDSNHS Consumer Cooperative officers are committed to serve its
members and stakeholders with utmost concern for their welfare.
They uphold truth, justice, and transparency. They exhibit genuine
selflessness in carrying out their mandates and duties, even at the
expense of personal gains.
2. In order that the members would fully understand and comprehend the
purpose of the DRDSNHS Consumer Cooperative, it is preferred that
they, the members, would also undergo the basic training course on
Cooperatives given by the CDA.
