Sun carrier omega office is located in Bhopal, central India with a built up area of about 9888 sq. ft.
The company provides turnkey renewable energy solutions from planning, through installation to servicing to fulfill
the requisite energy demand for residential, government and corporates sectors.
It’s has achieved the LEED Platinum certification under LEED India.
WHY NET-ZERO ENERGY BUILDING ?
To reach Universal Energy Access by 2030, 55% of additional electricity generated for households will need to be through mini- and off-grid
solutions.
Passive solar design - In passive solar building design, windows, walls, and floors are made to collect, store, and distribute solar energy
in the form of heat in the winter and reject solar heat in the summer

● Sun Carrier Omega is equipped with Co2 sensors to measure the Co2
levels in the breathing zone .
● 77% of the occupants can control the air speed and temperature of the
cassette A/C units .
● More than 81% of the regularly occupied areas have daylight.
● 92% of the buildings regularly occupied spaces have direct lines of sight to
the perimeter glazing.
● Low emitting paints , carpets and composite wood products have been
used to enhance the indoor environment and provide superior workspace
for all employees.
ENERGIZING THE BUILDING
● Energy requirements of the building are met on site PV modules generating 140 kWh
.
● Project achieved 43.8% energy cost reduction.
● Energy efficient measures like Hi Albedo paint on the roof , Efficient Lighting System
, Efficient HVAC and VRV systems for saving more energy than conventional
systems.
● Selection of CFC free and HCFC free refrigerants which avoid global warming and
ozone depletion.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
● Sun Carrier Omega has ensured that 96% of total construction waste and debris has been recycled or reused .
● The project achieved a recyclable content value of 10.6% of the total material by cost thereby reducing virgin material exploitation.
● 5.9 % of the total materials cost used on the project were from rapidly renewable resources .
● 99.1% of the wood based products used are certified in accordance of FSC principles .
● 24% of the materials and products by cost were extracted , harvested , recovered and manufactured within 800 Kms of the project site.
SITE SUSTAINABILITY
NOVELTIES
WATER EFFICIENCY
Act One: Deployment of a renewable energy generator in the form of Solar PV system.
The SunCarrier SC 26o was chosen since it was one of the largest sun-tracking solar PV
systems worldwide, with a designed energy yield that was 35-40% higher than that of
similarly rated static systems. Its large format, and its ability to track the sun, has made it a
beacon for the eco-inquisitive and eco-conscious from all walks of life. It now acts as a
great motivator for those desirous of adopting sustainable energy policies for their own
residential or commercial operations.
Act Two: Incorporate demand-side energy efficiencies. The ORBPL NZEB design
incorporated day-lighting for high utilization of natural lighting; LED lighting and occupancy
monitoring sensors. The air conditioning system chosen was one with ozone friendly
refrigerant and carbon dioxide monitoring sensor system and low noise inverters. Water
harvesting system, controlled water discharge toilets, and sewage treatment with zero
discharge ensured efficient usage of water. The furniture chosen, too, was 95% recyclable.
Act Three:
Integration of a large capacity energy storage system, the Cellcube FB 10-100. In
addition to its ability to store upto ioo kWh of energy per unit, it also functions as an
effective energy management system. Excess energy produced during the day by the
SC 26o is stored in the Cellcube, which in turn supplies energy during the night hours,
and during monsoon days when the sun doesn't shine.
● Based upon the sizing for the ORBPL energy plan, the system was configured
with 2 units of SunCarrier SC 26o, with an overall rating of 67 kWp, for a planned
yield of over i3o,000 kWh per annum. 3 units of Cellcube FB 10-100, each with a
maximum power rating of 15 kW, and a storage capacity of 100 kWh, were
configured. 1 SMA Multi-cluster box completed the configuration.
● The system described above has a design life of 25 years. The SunCarrier SC
26o require minimal maintenance in terms of periodic cleaning the dust off the PV
module surfaces.
● The PLC controls and monitoring systems incorporated both in the SunCarrier
SC 26o and the Cellcube FB 10-100 allow remote monitoring of critical
performance parameters and take the rarely required preventive actions to
ensure smooth functioning of the system.
Act Four:
The ORBPL Net Zero Energy Building The ORBPL Net Zero Energy
Building (NZEB), located in the central part of India, in the city of Bhopal,
the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is an example of how organisations that
can, go beyond adopting the best in energy conservation technologies, and
augment the energy supply by implementing 'green' energy systems that
leverage nature's abundance of solar energy.
