CAPE Physics 2008 U1 P2 (TT) Mark Scheme

1. The data provided was used to calculate the acceleration due to gravity. A graph of velocity vs. time and position vs. time was sketched based on the data. 2. Diffraction is the bending of waves around the edges of an obstacle or aperture. Constructive and destructive interference was shown on a diagram of waves passing through two slits. Wave diagrams demonstrated how two waves can interfere constructively or destructively. 3. Two antennas emitting coherent signals at 900 kHz were shown. The spacing and locations of intensity maxima were used to calculate the wavelength of the radio waves.
