SUBJECT: Rudder Boost system may become inoperative when activated in G1000® STC
for King Air 300/B300 Aircraft
CERTIFICATION
AUTHORIZATION: STC SA01535WI-D (see Approval section for details)

PRODUCTS AFFECTED
Textron Aviation Inc. (Beechcraft) King Air model 300, 300LW, B300, and B300C aircraft equipped with all
of the following are affected:
• G1000 Integrated Flight Deck installed per STC SA01535WI-D, Master Drawing List (MDL)
005-00629-00 Rev 1 through 26.
• GSA 9000 yaw servo software version 2.13 or earlier

NOTE
Both G1000 original and G1000® NXi configurations are affected.

NOTE
King Air model A200, A200CT, 200, 200C, B200, B200C, B200GT and B200CGT aircraft
are not affected by this Service Bulletin.

PURPOSE
The Rudder Boost system may become inoperative when activated in the event of significant reduction or
loss of power in one engine as described in Garmin Service Alert 21119.

DESCRIPTION
This service bulletin provides instructions for a software update to prevent the Rudder Boost system from
becoming inoperative.

Mandatory: This STC Service Bulletin must be accomplished no later than May 31, 2022.

APPROVAL
The data referenced in this STC Service Bulletin are FAA-approved in accordance with STC SA01535WI-
D MDL 005-00629-00 Rev 27.

DOCUMENTATION CONSIDERATIONS
Airplane Flight Manual Supplements, Cockpit Reference Guides, and Pilot Guides are retained for this
installation.
All documents needed for this bulletin are available at no cost in the Dealer Resource Center on the
Garmin website https://dealers.garmin.com.

REFERENCES
The documents in Table 1 are required to accomplish the update and maintain the airworthiness of G1000
equipped King Air 300/B300 aircraft.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
This Service Bulletin is warranty reimbursable for the manpower listed above, with a deadline of May 31,
2022 after which this upgrade will no longer be reimbursable for labor. To ensure proper reimbursement
when completing the warranty claim indicate the following:
• Indicate compliance with STC Service Bulletin 21120
• Aircraft make and model
• Aircraft serial number and registration

NOTE
Installations completed after 12/10/21 must use System Software Version 2286.14 or later
in accordance with MDL 005-00629-00 Rev 27 or later, and are not eligible for warranty
reimbursement.

MODIFICATION PROCEDURE
Use the applicable G1000 System Maintenance Manual for details pertaining to the following steps.
1. Power the G1000 system in normal mode.
2. Use the FMS knob to select the ‘AUX – System Status’ page of the MFD to view the Airframe and
LRU info.
3. Make a note of the System Software Version shown.
4. If the System Software Version is 0985.04 or 0985.06, the software must be updated to version
0985.07 per STC Service Bulletin 1342 before continuing.
5. Scroll to GSA YAW CTL and GSA YAW MON.
6. If the version displayed is 2.14 or later, no action is required. Otherwise, continue with the following
steps to update the yaw servo system software and certification gains.
7. Create a loader card containing software part number 006-B2286-9A.
8. Put the loader card into the top slot of PFD1.
9. Power the G1000 system in configuration mode.
10. On PFD1, go to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page using the small FMS knob.
11. Push in the PFD1 FMS knob to activate the cursor in the Group field.
12. Rotate the small FMS knob to activate the drop-down menu.
13. Rotate the small FMS knob to highlight the applicable Model 300 or Model B300 or Model B300
Heavy option in the drop-down menu.
14. Push the ENT key to select.
15. Using the System Software Version noted in Step 3, rotate the small FMS knob to highlight the
applicable version option in the drop-down menu.
16. Push the ENT key to select.
17. Push the CHK All softkey.
18. Push the Load softkey.
19. Push the ENT key to acknowledge the “Upload Complete” box (skip this step for System Software
Release 2286.13).
For NXi configurations, accomplish these additional steps:
20. Scroll to the Configuration Manager page on PFD 1.
21. Push the CNFM CFG softkey on PFD1.
22. Select OK when prompted to “Confirm configuration as expected configuration.”

POST MODIFICATION CHECKOUT
Use the applicable G1000 System Maintenance Manual for details pertaining to the following steps.
1. Power the PFD1 and PFD2 in normal mode and the MFD in configuration mode.
2. Use the FMS knob to view the LRU info on the ‘System Status’ page of the MFD.
3. Make sure the correct information is displayed per Table 2.
4. Make sure the AFCS passes the pre-flight test and there are no Red-X’s present.
5. Push YD on the GMC and verify yaw damper engages.
6. Make sure the RUDDER BOOST switch in pedestal is set to RUDDER BOOST position and make
sure the amber RUD BOOST OFF annunciator is not illuminated.
7. Remove power from the G1000 system.
