Vision

Mission

The University shall prepare competent and

biomedical research with scientific temper,

 It shall foster interdisciplinary research that


will generate meaningful outcomes for the
community and the nation.
 It shall provide translational research abilities
for improving health care of the needy socio
economically deprived urban and rural
populations.

 It shall seek collaborations of national and


international research institutes for
conducting good quality research to provide
solutions to the problems faced by the
community at local as well as state, National
and International level.
Objectives
 To conduct the research methodology certificate course
 To undertake multiple scrutiny of all research proposals
 To obtain approval from Institutional Ethics Committee for
research projects
 To provide funds for implementation of research proposals
 To monitor the quality of research work and thesis
continuously
 To encourage researchers to obtain funds from extramural
agencies
 To increase publications in the indexed journals
To encourage the students and staff to organize and
in scientific activities like Conferences, Workshops, CMEs
To encourage the staff to write books/monographs
To encourage and guide the staff to apply for
patents, patent design, and copy right
To publish quarterly international journal

 In a period of three years (2015 – 2017), a total
of 17 research articles have been published in
peer reviewed journals.
LEAD REFERRAL LABORATORY

 Lead referral laboratory (1st of it’s kind in Maharashtra)

was established on 9th Feb 2012 at the Department of Biochemistry

in collaboration with -

National Referral Centre for Lead Projects of India (NRCLPI)

AND

Indian Society of Lead Awareness and Research (InSLAR)

 Recognized by the WHO as a Rural Lead Referral Centre


Blood lead level is measured by Lead Care II Blood

lead Analyzer (ESA, Magellan Biosciences, USA)


External Funds Obtained:
Received fund Rs. 3 lakhs from the Underwriters
Laboratories (UL) USA for assessing water and
blood lead levels in Karad city.
 One lakh from WHO for est. of PbB of School Children

Received the outstanding best performance


award for the year 2013 and 2015 by NRCLPI
among the 36 Lead Referral Laboratories all over
India.
 Completed seven research projects through which
various industrial workers, such as battery
manufacturing, silver jewelry, spray painters and
traffic police were screened for blood lead level and
biochemical parameters

 Educational and awareness programmes were


conducted for the lead exposed population

 Six research articles were published in peer


reviewed journals

 Tests established for detection and diagnosis of various


viral diseases
 HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)
 HBV (Hepatitis B Virus)
 HCV (Hepatitis C Virus)
 Torch Panel (Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus &
Herpes)
 Dengue Fever
 HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)

 Japanese Encephalitis ELISA
 Chikungunya ELISA
 PCR- HCV genotyping and HPV genotyping
 The Virology Laboratory has completed five
research projects and at present working
on four research projects.

 Six research publications were made in the


peer reviewed journals.
