Math 8 - Illustrating Theorems On Triangle Inequalities

This learning activity sheet provides instructions for students to investigate theorems related to triangle inequalities, including the relationship between a triangle's longest side and largest angle, the sum of any two sides compared to the remaining side, and exterior angle inequality, triangle inequality, and hinge theorems. Students are asked to complete problems illustrating these theorems and discuss their application to real-life settings.

Learning Activity Sheet in Math 8

Illustrating Theorems on Triangle Inequalities

Learning Competencies:
• investigate the relationship between the longest side and the largest angle in the triangle
and vice versa;
• investigate the relationship between the sum of any two sides and the remaining sides in a
triangle;
• illustrate theorems on triangle inequalities such as the Exterior Angle Inequality
Theorem, Triangle Inequality Theorem, and Hinge Theorem with its converse; and •
connect theorems in triangle inequalities in real-life setting.

I. Write your answer on a separate sheet of paper. Answer what is asked in the given problem.
II. Which of the following could be the lengths of the sides of a triangle? Put a triangle ( ) if it
forms a triangle and (X) if it does not form a triangle.

III. Modified True or False. Write True if the statement is correct, but if it’s False, change the
underlined words to make it right.
