3. RECAP
Procedure
To run fault finding on the vehicle's computers, switch on the ignition in fault finding mode (forced + after ignition
feed).
Proceed as follows:
– Renault card in the card reader (keyless vehicle scenario 1, standard, not hands-free and scenario 2, top of
the range, hands-free),
– hold down the Start button (more than 5 seconds) outside starting conditions,
N.B.:
The left-hand and right-hand xenon bulb computers are powered when the dipped beam headlights light up.
Fault finding can only be carried out on them after the ignition has been switched on in fault finding mode
(forced + after ignition feed) and the dipped headlights are on.
– Ensure that the + after ignition feed has been cut off by checking that the computer indicator lights on the
instrument panel have gone out.
Faults
The present status of faults must be considered when using the diagnostic tool after switching on + after ignition feed
(without activating any system components).
Present faults must be dealt with according to the procedure specified in the "Interpretation of faults" section.
Conformity check
The aim of the conformity check is to check data that does not produce a fault on the diagnostic tool because it is
inconsistent. Therefore, this phase is used to:
– carry out fault finding on faults that do not have a fault display, and which may correspond to a customer complaint,
– check that the system is operating correctly and that there is no risk of a fault recurring after repairs.
This section gives the fault finding procedures for statuses and parameters and the conditions for checking them.
If a status is not behaving normally or a parameter is outside the permitted tolerance values, consult the
corresponding fault finding page.
If the test with the diagnostic tool is OK but the customer complaint is still present, the fault should be treated by
customer complaints.

4. FAULT FINDING PROCEDURE
Procedure to be carried out before entering fault finding mode with the tool
– Are the faulty wheels equipped with valves fitted with pressure sensors, or were they so at the time of the fault?
– Check the position of the wheels on the vehicle (wheel sensor colour code). Put the wheels back in position
and program the codes of the four wheel sensors if the wheels are not in their original position.
– Check the wheel pressures with a pressure gauge. Do they match the pressures specified on the door or in
the driver’s handbook?
A summary of the overall procedure to follow is provided on the following page in the form
of a flow chart.

SYSTEM OPERATION
– The valves are activated approximately one minute after the vehicle has been running at a speed above 12 mph
(20 km/h).
– During driving, the valves emit signals every minute.
– The valves remain activated for 15 min after the vehicle stops, then switch to standby mode.
– In standby mode, the valves emit signals only if they detect a pressure difference between two successive
measurements exceeding 68 mbar or if the pressure difference since last emitting exceeds 68 mbar (due to tyre
cooling).
– The tyres are considered to be cold when the vehicle speed has been zero for 1h 45 min.
– The minimum time for detection of a leak is approximately 15 minutes.
– The message "Inflate tyres for motorway" is displayed only if the vehicle travels at more than 102 mph
(170 km/h) (as an indication) for 3 minutes and the pressure on at least one of the tyres is 400 mbar less than the
recommended pressure at low speed. This message is inactive if the tyres are inflated to motorway pressure,
irrespective of the vehicle speed.
– Warning thresholds:
– over-inflation when cold = recommended pressure + 700 mbar
– over-inflated while warm = recommended pressure + 850 mbar
– under-inflated = recommended pressure - 400 mbar
– very under-inflated = recommended pressure - 600 mbar
– imbalance = difference in pressure between the left-hand and right-hand wheels on the same axle greater
than 500 mbar
– Information messages displayed for the driver:
– "Puncture: change tyre" + STOP warning light + wheel concerned fills in on the instrument panel display
+ buzzer.
– "Readjust tyre pressure" + the wheel concerned fills in on the instrument panel display.
– "Inflate tyres for highway" + four wheels fill in on the instrument panel display.
– "Tyre sensor inoperative" + the wheel concerned is cleared.
– "Electronic fault" + "SERVICE" warning light + the four wheels concerned disappear from the instrument
panel display.
– No display of the tyre inflation pressure on the instrument panel on MEGANE II.

VALVE - WHEEL MATCHING
Whenever wheels are swapped over, reprogram the new valve positions in the UCH by means of the diagnostic tool.
The coloured rings will then have to be placed back in the location marked on the label on the driver's door.
Ring colours:
– Front left-hand: green
– Front right-hand: yellow
– Rear left-hand: red
– Rear right-hand: black
On leaving the factory, the summer wheel set is configured in the UCH, but customers can fit their vehicle with a
winter set (winter wheels = wheel rims + sensors + special tyres).
The first time a set of winter wheels is fitted, program the codes of the four valves. Thereafter, whenever the set of
tyres is changed, recognition is automatic without having to touch the UCH.
Establishing communication between the UCH and the CLIP diagnostic tool:
– Connect the wire to the diagnostic socket and switch on the ignition.
– Switch on the diagnostic tool.
– Select the vehicle type and carry out the multiplex network test.
– Select the "Tyre" function.
– Then follow the fault finding procedure described previously.
IMPORTANT
REPLACING A UCH
In the event that a UCH is replaced, configure the UCH "With tyre pressure monitor" and program the four
wheel sensors in the new UCH using procedure SC002 "Program the four valve codes".
See section 87B "UCH", for configuration of the other equipment managed by the UCH.

Special note:
If a wheel is equipped with a tyre pressure sensor, precautions must be taken when
removing/refitting tyres.
NOTES
Failure to take the precautions specified in section 35 of the Workshop Repair Manual
could result in the sensor being damaged, and potential operating faults in the tyre
pressure monitor system.
STEP 1
Start by checking the tyre inflation and if necessary restore to the recommended pressure.
Next, to ensure that the wheel sensors are functioning properly, at each conformity check, make sure all
sensors really are transmitting. Do this by creating a tyre leak and making sure its status changes:
STEP 2
Important: wait 90 seconds before checking the change of status.
– If the original status is: over-inflated or under-inflated
See ALP 2 and 3 "Pressure adjustment".
– If the original status is: flat
See ALP 6 "Puncture: Change tyre".
– If the original status is: absent
See ALP 4 and 5 "Sensor inoperative".
If the status does not change, replace the sensor on the tyre concerned following the instructions and the code
programming procedure for the four valves SC002 "Program the four valve codes" (Configurations and
programming).

NO: If the vehicle speed is greater than 102 mph (170 km/h) (as an indication) for more
than 3 minutes and the pressure on at least one of the tyres is 400 mbar or more below
"motorway" pressure.
NOTES
YES: if the vehicle speed is below 102 mph (170 km/h) (as an indication) or if the
pressure of the four tyres corresponds to the pressure of parameters PR011 and
PR012 "High speed recommended pressure", whatever the speed.
Make sure that the tyre pressures are at the recommended "motorway" pressure (see MR 364 35A, or driver’s
handbook), and reinflate the tyres if necessary.
Check that the pressures entered (PR009 to PR012) match the manufacturer's specifications.
If the pressures entered do not correspond to the manufacturer's values, write the recommended pressures
using procedure VP005 "Write recommended pressures" (see Configuration and programming).

When communication is established, the default value of the parameters is displayed (0 bar). By creating a
leak or using a road test, force each valve to transmit to discover the actual pressure levels measured by the
sensors during the fault finding procedure.
In all cases, check that the pressures displayed on the diagnostic tool actually match the pressure-gauge
readings (to within 0.2 bar).
If the pressures are different, there are two possible scenarios:
1 st case: The parameters still display 0 bar.
This means that the wheel valve codes do not correspond to the wheel set programmed into the UCH. (When
the UCH receives the valve codes, it will not recognise them because they do not correspond to the wheel set
codes already programmed, i.e. the codes it expects). To rectify this:
Start the programming procedure with command SC002 "Program the four valve codes" (see Configurations
and programming).
2 nd case: Parameters PR003 to PR006 display incorrect values (other than 0 bar)
If the pressures differ, there is a fault on the valve. Replace the faulty valve. Follow the programming
procedure: SC002 "Program the four valve codes" (see Configurations and programming).
After programming, repeat the fault finding procedure from the beginning.

Fault finding - Introduction 36B
To cut off the + after ignition feed, proceed as follows:
– disconnect the diagnostic tool,
– press the start button briefly 2 times (less than 3 secs),
– confirm that the forced + after ignition feed has been cut off by checking that the computer indicator lights on the
instrument panel have gone out.
Faults
Faults are declared as either present or stored (depending on whether they appeared in a certain context and have
disappeared since, or whether they remain present but have not been diagnosed within the current context).
The present or stored status of faults should be taken into consideration when the diagnostic tool is used following
the + after ignition supply being switched on (without acting on the system components).
For a present fault, apply the procedure described in the Interpretation of faults section.
For a stored fault, note the faults displayed and apply the notes section.
If the fault is confirmed when the instructions in the Notes section are applied, the fault is present. Deal with the fault.
If the fault is not confirmed, check:
– the electrical lines which correspond to the fault,
– the connectors on these lines (corrosion, bent pins, etc.),
– the resistance of the component detected as faulty,
– the condition of the wires (melted or cut insulation, wear).
Conformity check
The aim of the conformity check is to check data that does not produce a fault on the diagnostic tool when
inconsistent. Therefore, this stage is used to:
– carry out fault finding on faults that do not have a fault display, and which may correspond to a customer
complaint,
– check that the system is operating correctly and that there is no risk of a fault recurring after repairs.
This section gives the fault finding procedures for statuses and parameters and the conditions for checking them.
If a status is not behaving normally or a parameter is outside the permitted tolerance values, consult the
corresponding fault finding page.
If the test with the diagnostic tool is OK but the customer complaint is still present, the fault should be processed by
customer complaints.
A summary of the overall procedure to follow is provided on the following page in the form of a flow chart.

5. FAULT FINDING LOG
NOTE
Any fault on a complex system requires thorough fault finding with the appropriate tools. The
FAULT FINDING LOG, which should be completed during the procedure, enables you to keep
track of the procedure which is carried out. It is an essential document when consulting the
IMPORTANT
manufacturer.
IT IS THEREFORE MANDATORY TO FILL OUT A FAULT FINDING LOG FOR EACH FAULT FINDING
PROCEDURE.
6. SAFETY ADVICE
Safety rules must be observed during any work on a component to prevent any damage or injury:
– make sure that the battery is properly charged to avoid damaging the computers with a low load,
– use the appropriate tools.

Fault finding - System operation 36B
SYSTEM OPERATION
On this vehicle, the steering system is power-assisted by an electric motor (mounted on the steering column). The
driver's actions are translated by a torque sensor, which measures the force applied to the steering wheel by the
driver, and by an angle measuring sensor. The steering wheel angle signal is used by the electronic stability program
computer for the trajectory control programming.
Assistance is provided by means of an electric motor which applies an appropriate torque to the steering column, in
one direction or the other.
A computer controls this assistance according to several vehicle environment parameters, including the vehicle
speed.
PULL COMPENSATION
Note:
If the computer detects a fault, the level of assistance can be modified depending on how serious the fault is.
An incorrect or absent vehicle speed signal results in assistance equal to that provided at 24 mph (40 km/h).
NOTE
Depending on the operating conditions and the operations performed on the vehicle before switching on the ignition,
the assistance system may take a certain time to be activated after engine starting; this also applies after battery cut-
off or switching off the ignition.
Slow flashing of the Service warning light at 2 Hz: the electric power steering system is in fault finding mode.
Rapid flashing of the Service warning light at 8 Hz accompanied by the Check steering message: the steering wheel
angle sensor is not calibrated and not indexed.
SERVICE warning light continuously lit with Check steering displayed on instrument panel: signal received by the
EPAS computer.
– assistance equal to that provided at a speed of 24 mph (40 km/h) if vehicle speed signal is absent or incorrect,
– angle sensor signal invalid: steering wheel angle sensor not calibrated (no active recall).
STOP warning light continuously lit with steering defective displayed on the instrument panel: fault in the EPAS
system.
If the fault is still present after repair, contact the Techline.
The steering wheel angle sensor is initialised after the ignition is switched on. The sensor is not initialised until the
steering wheel has gone through a quarter turn left or right. If this turn is not carried out, the steering wheel angle
value reading will be 1.2 degrees higher or lower than the actual value.

Fault finding - Replacement of components 36B
Before replacing the electric power assisted steering computer, the battery must be disconnected.
Every time the battery is disconnected, the steering wheel angle is invalid (remains at 0) and status ET020 is at
Status 3.
Following a road test, this will result in a fault in the Electronic Stability Program.
Therefore, every time the battery is disconnected, turn the steering wheel a quarter turn to the left and then a quarter
turn to the right, and bring back the steering wheel to the centre point with the wheels set straight ahead and the
engine running.
If the fault is still present, stop and restart the engine without pressing the ESP button and repeat the procedure
above.
Each time the Electric Power Assisted Steering computer is replaced, configure the computer to the vehicle (see
SC001 Computer calibration) and program the steering wheel angle sensor (VP004 Steering wheel angle sensor
programming).

MOTOR THERMAL PROTECTION INDICATOR
PR119
NOTES None
The computer and assistance motor are both thermally protected. When the critical temperature is reached, the
power-assisted steering computer limits the assistance to 15 %.
This critical temperature may vary with the operation and forces applied to the steering column.
If the temperature exceeds 60 °C, do not operate the steering for 15 minutes, to allow the temperature to drop.
A search must be made to identify the cause of the temperature rise. It may arise from:
– an environment causing a temperature rise,
– abnormal use by the driver.
Note:
If the steering wheel is kept at full lock for over 5 seconds, the assistance will drop to 15 %, although the
temperature does not exceed 60°.
AFTER REPAIR Carry out a road test, followed by a check with the diagnostic tool.

ALP 2 Loss of vehicle assistance without warning
– apply the ALP after a complete check with the diagnostic tool,
NOTES
– check the conformity of ET026 Computer calibration.
The vehicle loses the assistance function if the electric power assisted steering fuse is broken or the power supply

This document presents the fault finding procedure applicable to all computers with the following specifications:
Documentation type
Wiring Diagrams:
– Visu-Schéma (CD-ROM), paper version.
3. RECAP
Procedure
To perform fault finding on the vehicle's computers, switch on the ignition in fault finding mode.
Proceed as follows:
– vehicle's card in reader;
– press and hold the Start button (longer than 5 seconds) with start-up conditions not met;
– connect the diagnostic tool and perform the required operations.
Note:
The left and right-hand xenon bulb computers are fed when the dipped headlights are switched on. Therefore fault
finding can only be carried out on them after the ignition has been switched on in fault finding mode (forced + after
ignition feed) and the dipped headlights have been switched on.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
Vdiag No: 0C, 0D, 0E, 0F
Faults are declared as either present or stored (depending on whether they appeared in a certain context and have
disappeared since, or whether they remain present but have not been diagnosed within the current context).
The present or stored status of faults should be taken into consideration when the diagnostic tool is switched on after
the + after ignition feed (without any system components being active).
For a present fault, apply the procedure described in the Interpretation of faults section.
For a stored fault, note the faults displayed and apply the instructions in the Notes section.
If the fault is confirmed when the instructions in the Notes section are applied, the fault is present. Deal with the fault
Conformity check
The aim of the conformity check is to check data that does not produce a fault on the diagnostic tool because the
data is inconsistent. Therefore, this stage is used to:
– carry out fault finding on faults that do not have a fault display, and which may correspond to a customer
complaint.
A synopsis of the general procedure to follow is provided on the following page in the form of a
flow chart.

NOTE
Any fault on a complex system requires thorough fault finding with the appropriate tools. The
FAULT FINDING LOG, which should be completed during the procedure, enables you to keep
track of the procedure which is carried out. It is an essential document when consulting the
IMPORTANT! manufacturer.
IT IS THEREFORE MANDATORY TO FILL OUT A FAULT FINDING LOG EACH TIME FAULT FINDING IS
CARRIED OUT.
6. SAFETY ADVICE
Safety rules must be observed during any work on a component to prevent any damage or injury:
– make sure that the battery is properly charged to avoid damaging the computers with a low load,
– use the appropriate tools.
– It is forbidden to carry out a road test with the diagnostic tool in dialogue with the ECU because the ABS
and Electronic Brake Distribution functions are deactivated. Braking pressure is identical on both vehicle
axles (risk of a spin under heavy braking).

The tyre circumference must be programmed into the memory of a new computer. This consists of
entering an index X using the diagnostic tool and the command VP007 Tachometric index.
Once the number has been entered using the VP007 command, delete the fault in the computer memory
and then switch off the ignition. Use the parameter PR030 to check that the index entered has been
stored correctly.

for starting being met.
Check that the diagnostic tool is not causing the fault by trying to establish dialogue with a computer on another
vehicle. If the tool is not at fault, and dialogue cannot be established with any other computer on the same vehicle,
the cause could be a faulty computer interfering on the multiplex network. Check the battery voltage and carry out
the necessary work to obtain the correct voltage (9.5 V < Battery voltage < 17.5 V).
Carry out a fault finding procedure on the multiplex network using the diagnostic tool.
Check the presence and the condition of the ABS fuses on the passenger compartment fuse board and in the
engine fuse box. Check that the computer connector is properly connected and check the condition of its
connections. Check the ABS earths (good condition, not corroded, tightness of the earth screw above the ABS
assembly). Check that the supply to the computer is correct:
– Earth on tracks 1 and 4 of the 26-track connector.
– + before ignition feed on tracks 2 and 3 of the 26-track connector.

Reminder: locking of wheels on a vehicle equipped with ABS or screeching of tyres, perceived by the customer as
locking, may be related to normal operation of the system and should not automatically be assumed to be a fault:
ABS braking on very poor roads (significant screeching).
However, if the wheels are actually locking, lift the vehicle in order to be able to turn the wheels and check
Possible inversion when connecting the speed sensors.
Using parameters PR001, PR002, PR003 and PR004, rotate the wheels slowly and check the consistency of the
results obtained.
If the value measured is zero, rotate the other wheels to confirm an electrical inversion of the sensors and repair
the wiring harness.
Possible inversion of pipes on the hydraulic unit.

left-hand wheel solenoid valves and AC006 Rear right-hand wheel solenoid valves commands while depressing
the brake pedal and check for the occurrence of 5 locking/unlocking cycles on the wheel (see the Command modes
processing section)
If the 5 cycles do not occur on the wheel tested (wheel remains locked), check whether they occur on another wheel

NOTES
Warning: the ABS is sensitive on slippery surfaces (ice, wet tiles, etc.).
It is possible to feel brake pedal vibrations which are associated with the reaction of the system in particular
circumstances, such as:
crossing speed bumps,
tight cornering with lifting of the inside rear wheel.
These vibrations may be linked to simple brake limiter activation, when the pressure on the rear axle is limited.
If the fault is different, check the speed sensor connectors (micro-breaks) as well as the air gaps.

Fault finding - Introduction 38C
Faults
– carry out fault finding on faults that do not have a fault display, and which may correspond to a customer
complaint,
– check that the system is operating correctly and that there is no risk of a fault recurring after repairs.
A synopsis of the general procedure to follow is provided on the following page in the form
of a flow chart

Visual inspection
Look for damage under the bonnet and in the passenger compartment.
Carefully check the fuses, insulators and wiring harness routing.
Look for signs of oxidation.
Tactile inspection
While manipulating the wiring harness, use the diagnostic tool to note any change in fault status from stored to
present.
Make sure that the connectors are properly locked.
Apply light pressure to the connectors.
Twist the wiring harness.
If there is a change in status, try to locate the source of the fault.
Resistance check
Check the continuity of entire lines, then section by section.
Look for a short circuit to earth, to + 12 V or to another wire.

5. FAULT FINDING LOG
NOTE
Any fault on a complex system requires thorough fault finding with the appropriate tools. The
FAULT FINDING LOG, which should be completed during the procedure, enables you to keep
track of the procedure which is carried out. It is an essential document when consulting the
IMPORTANT! manufacturer.
IT IS THEREFORE MANDATORY TO FILL OUT A FAULT FINDING LOG EACH TIME FAULT FINDING IS
CARRIED OUT
6. SAFETY ADVICE
Safety rules must be observed during any work on a component to prevent any damage or injury:
– make sure that the battery is properly charged to avoid damaging the computers with a low load,
– use the appropriate tools.
– It is forbidden to carry out a road test while the diagnostic tool is communicating with the computer, because
the ABS and Electronic Braking Distribution (EBD) functions are deactivated. Braking pressure is identical
on both vehicle axles (risk of a spin under heavy braking).

Fault finding - System operation 38C
The ESP system on this vehicle incorporates the following functions:
– ABS (anti-lock braking system). The main functions of the ABS system are electronic front and rear braking
distribution (EBD) by controlling rear wheel slip, and preventing the wheels from locking by controlling the slipping
of all four wheels.
– MSR (engine torque control). Traction control on the driven wheels under no load by limiting the engine braking.
– ASR (traction control). Limits spinning of the drive wheels during starting or acceleration phases by limiting the
engine torque and braking the wheel(s) which are spinning.
– ESP (electronic stability program). Electronic stability program limiting oversteer or understeer by braking certain
wheels and controlling the engine torque.
– CSV (understeer control). Specific control of situations involving pronounced understeer by significant vehicle
braking in conjunction with a specific dynamic stability program.
– AUTOMATIC LIGHTING OF HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS. Generation on the CAN network, for the UCH, of a
request for switching on the hazard warning lights in case of braking causing a very hard deceleration (according
to the legislation of the country).
– AUTOMATIC LIGHTING UP OF BRAKE LIGHTS. In the event of understeer control (CSV only), the ESP computer
controls the lighting up the brake lights, via a relay, to give warning of a rapid deceleration as generated by the
system (depending on national legislation).
The system also supplies the other computers with information on the vehicle speed via a wire connection for the
xenon bulbs, the radio and the electric sunroof, and via the multiplex network for the other computers. The ABS/ESP
computer provides the odometry for the instrument panel and navigation aid over the multiplex network.
IDENTIFICATION
From the outside, two factors distinguish an ABS unit from an ABS/ESP unit:
– The size of the units (the ABS/ESP unit is bigger than the ABS unit). The ABS unit has 8 solenoid valves
and the ABS/ESP unit has 12.
– The number of computer tracks (the ABS computer has 26 tracks and the ABS/ESP computer has
46 tracks).

ALP 1 No dialogue with the ABS computer
Special note:
To test the vehicle's computers, switch on the ignition in fault finding mode (forced
NOTES + after ignition feed), i.e. proceed as follows:
– With the vehicle card in the card reader, press the Start button for more than
5 seconds without starting conditions being met.
Check that the diagnostic tool is not causing the fault by trying to establish dialogue with a computer on another
vehicle. If the tool is not at fault, and dialogue cannot be established with any other computer on the same vehicle,
the cause could be a faulty computer interfering on the multiplex network. Check the battery voltage and carry out
the operations necessary to obtain the correct voltage (9.5 V < battery voltage < 17.5 V).
Carry out a fault finding procedure on the multiplex network using the diagnostic tool.
Check the presence and the condition of the ABS fuses on the passenger compartment fuse board and in the
engine fuse box.
Check that the computer connector is properly connected and check the condition of its connections.
Check the ABS earths (good condition, not corroded, earth screw on top of the ABS unit tight).
Check that the supply to the computer is correct:
– Earth on tracks 1 and 4 of the 46-track connector.
– + Before ignition feed on tracks 2 and 3 of the 46-track connector.
– + After ignition feed on track 18 of the 46-track connector.

ALP 2 Locking of one or more wheels
NOTES Only consult this customer complaint after a complete check with the diagnostic tool.
Reminder: The locking of wheels on a vehicle fitted with ABS, or screeching of the tyres, which feels like locking
to the customer, may be linked to normal operation of the system and should not always be considered a fault:
– Braking with ABS intervention on very poor roads (significant screeching).
However, if the wheels are actually locking, raise the vehicle in order to be able to turn the wheels and check:
– Possible inversion when connecting the speed sensors.
View parameters PR001, PR002, PR003 and PR004 while slowly rotating the wheels concerned and check the
consistency of the results obtained.
If the value measured is zero, rotate the other wheels to confirm an electrical inversion of the sensors and repair
the wiring harness.
– Possible inversion of pipes on the hydraulic unit.
Run commands AC003 Left-hand front wheel solenoid valve, AC004 Right-hand front wheel solenoid valve, AC005
Left-hand rear wheel solenoid valve and AC006 Right-hand rear wheel solenoid valve, while pressing the brake
pedal and check that 5 braking/releasing cycles occur on the wheel concerned (see the Command mode
procedures section). If the 5 cycles do not occur on the wheel tested (wheel remains locked), check whether they
occur on another wheel to confirm transposed pipes.
If the 5 cycles are not detected on a wheel and the pipes have not been subject to inversion, replace the hydraulic
unit.

pressure
Only consult this customer complaint after a complete check with the diagnostic tool.
NOTES Warning: ABS regulation may be unresponsive when the vehicle is driven on surfaces
such as icy roads, cobbled streets, etc.
It is possible to feel brake pedal vibrations which are associated with the reaction of the system in particular
circumstances, such as:
– crossing speed bumps,
– tight cornering with lifting of the inside rear wheel.
These vibrations may be linked to simple brake limiter activation, when the pressure on the rear axle is limited.
If the fault is different, check the speed sensor connectors (micro-breaks) as well as the air gaps.

ESP warning light comes on with the message "ASR disabled" when
ALP 15 the current is switched on without pressing the ESP deactivation
button
Consult this customer complaint only if the "Service", "ABS" and "Brake" warning lights
NOTES
are not illuminated.
After disconnecting the battery, it is probable that the electric power steering loses the steering wheel angle sensor
indexing (the electric power steering no longer sends the steering wheel angle signal to the ESP, which is then
disabled).
The ESP system is not faulty, no fault is present in the fault memory, the ESP warning light comes on and the "ASR
disabled" message indicate that this situation is transitory and reversible.
To restore the electric power steering indexing and enable the ESP again, it is necessary to:
– switch on the ignition or start the engine (to have maximum assisted steering),
– turn the steering wheel slowly to full right lock, to full left lock, then return slowly to the centre point after going
slightly past it,
– the ESP warning light should then extinguish and the "ASR disabled" message should disappear,
– stop the engine and switch off the ignition,
– switch on the ignition, start the engine and see that the warning light no longer lights.
If the warning light and the message reappear, start the procedure described above again.
If the operation fails again or if this customer complaint appears without the battery having been disconnected, run
fault finding on the electric power steering and repair accordingly.
