RATIONAL
*It is now evident that it has become the norm for children and teenagers to be abused. As a
student going to a prominent high school, I have heard my fellow school mates talk about being
scolded by parents, for the touching of hands on the child which have become a popular topic to
speak about.
I found this topic to be very interesting mainly because children in my surroundings are being
abused by parents, relatives and even strangers, which should not be happening.
The researcher has observed that sexual abuse in the community has been happening for the past
2 years where children and young people are being to have sexual relationships where
intercourse and fondling is concerned.
METHOD OF INVESTIGATION
This researcher will be conducting a survey. The instrument used to conduct this survey is a
questionnaire, which is printed or written questions with choice of answer, devised for the
purpose of statistical study according to (Braithwaite etal,2012).
This instrument was selected because:
*It takes little time to be completed.
*It is relatively easy to distribute and collect data.

Most of the people would intervene if they heard of any adults sexually abusing the child. One
major cause of sexual abuse is stress. Parents are not spending enough time with their child
because of work.
