Performance of American Music. Truan has experience teaching at all levels of music Jeffrey Ray Jordan Meza Ryan Minniear
instruction. As a part of his duties at Whitewater High School, he was the band director Logan Scott
at Brooks Elementary School and assisted at Whitewater Middle School and Bennett’s Noe Trevino
Mill Middle School. Many of his students have won scholarships to continue their music-
making at the collegiate level, and his IB Music students have consistently scored the
highest from any subject area.

Truan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia (2009), where he
continued to complete his master of music education (2012). He is an active judge,
clinician, and performer and spends his spare time transcribing and composing new
music. He was recently invited to present “Young, Dumb, and Broke: Reflecting on the
First Ten Years of Teaching” at the 2020 Midwest Clinic in Chicago. His affiliations include Pi
Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, National Association for Music Education,
Georgia Music Educators Association and the National Band Association. He and his
husband, P. Seth Thompson, are happily married and have seven wonderful plants
together.

each performer's unique contribution. Every individual is considered to be
a principal player.

The North Texas Brass Band provides students with the unique opportunity to perform in
one of the most widely known wind mediums throughout the world. Similar to the British
Brass Band, the American Brass Band provides its members the opportunity to develop the
highest standards of technical and musical playing. Emphasis is given to the development
of tone quality, intonation, rhythm, and virtuosic technique through performance of a
wide variety of literature, including masterwork transcriptions, traditional marches, and
original works.
