 Parts List Overview Serial Number Format
The Parts List section identifies all part numbers and the corresponding location of all spared Part numbers may change from those listed here. To get the latest part, provide the following
subsystem components. information when ordering:
• Component's part number
Use of the Term “Assembly” • Product type or configuration number
The term “assembly” is used for items in the parts listing that may include other itemized parts. • Printer serial number
When the word “assembly” is found in the part number listing, there will be a corresponding
item number on the illustrations followed by a bracket and a listing of the contents of the

assembly. The product serial number is coded as follows:
• The text “S/N” followed by the serial number in the barcode.
Using the Parts Lists • The barcode does not include a field identifier.
Only those parts listed with part numbers are available for order. Parts listed without part • The nine digit product serial number format PPPRSSSSS where:

• The notation (P/O PL X.X Item X) following the part description indicates the part is 8570 DN F AN1 000001
included with the item identified in the referenced Parts List.
• The notation “(with X~Y)” following a part name indicates an assembly includes As an example, a product serial number of S/N XFN453072 decodes as follows:
components X through Y. For example, “1 (with 2~4)” means part 1 consists of parts 2, 3, • XFN = Product code for the 8570
and 4. • 4 = Revision Level
• The notation “J1<>J2 and P2” is attached to a wire harness. It indicates that connector • 53072 = Serial Number
Jack 1 is attached to one end of the wire harness and connector J2 is attached to the
other end that is plugged into P2.
8580/8880 Product Serial Number Format
Serial number encoding has changed for 8580 and 8880 products. These serial numbers now
differentiate between western and eastern hemisphere. Western hemisphere serial numbers
incorporate the product code and serial number. Eastern hemisphere product serial numbers
use a manufacturing location code, serial number, and a check digit.

For 8580N, 8580DN, 8580DNJ, 8580YDN, 8880DN, and 8880DNJ the product serial numbers
are nine digit encoded PPPSSSSSS where:
• PPP - Is the alphanumeric product code
• SSSSSS - Is the six digit numeric serial number

For 8580AN, 8580ADN, 8580ANM, 8580ADNM, 8880ADNM, and 8880ADN the product serial
numbers are ten digit encoded MMMSSSSSSc where:
• MMM - Is the manufacturing location code
• SSSSSS - Is the six digit numeric serial number
• c - Is the check digit

• Product code for 8880DN printer = T4B

Another example, a product serial number of S/N 3610415015 decodes as follows:
• Manufacturing location code for 8580AN = 361
• Serial number for 8580AN = 041501
• Check digit = 5
