Praise and gratitude to the presence of God Almighty, for His Blessings and Graces
so that I can complete paper Active and passive voice. Thanks to Muhammad Ilyas S.Pd.,
M.Pd and for directing us to positive things.
This assignment was made to fulfilling his English assignment "active and passive
voice”.
I recognize that there are still many fundamental deficiencies in this task. Therefore,
i expect constructive criticism and suggestions from readers for the perfection in preparing
future assignments. I also apologize if there are errors and writing.
Finally, i hope this paper can provide benefits and additional knowledge for the
readers.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
A. BACKGROUND
Active sentences ( active voice) are sentences where the subject is doing the wrok, on
the contrary, passive sentence ( passive voice) are sentence where the subject is subject to
work by the object of the sentence. Active voice is a sentence whose subject is doing
something or doing a job. In Indonesian, the characteristics of active setences are thet verbs
always start whit “I-“ and some have the prefix “ ber-“. Passive voice is thet the subject is
subject to a job or suffers stated by the verb. In Indonesian, the characteristics of passive
sentence are verbs that start with “di-“ and some have the prefix “ter-“.

1. Understanding
Active voice ( kalimat aktif ) adalah “ a sentence the subject does something or does
something.” Suatu kata kerja (verb from) yang subjek kalimatnta merupakan pelaku dari
kata kerja (verb) dalam kalimat. Pada Active voice, subject bertindak sebagai the doer of
the action (pelaku aksi). One of the easy ways to identify active and passive sentence is bay
having “by” in the sentence. Active sentence do not use by, whereas passive sentences use
“by”.
Passive voice merupakan “ a passive construction occurs when you make the object
of an action into the subject of a sentence.” Dapat disimpulkan bahwa passive voice subjek
kalimat tidak melakukan aksi melainkan menerima aksi. This is also true in English so the
verb is usually added –ed, -en, -d, -t, -n, -or –ne. verbs become beginning in such, as:
surprised, set, edible, and so on. For example:

a. Jika active voice dalam simple present tense, maka “be”, passive
voicenya adalah is, am, or are.

A: She wetered this plant this morning.
P: This plant was wetered by her this morning.
c. Jika active voice dalam present perfect tense, maka “be” passive voice-
nya adalah been yang diletakkan setelah auxiliary has atau have, hingga
menjadi “has been or have been”.
Example :
A: She has watered this plant for 5 minutes.
P: This plant has been wetered by her for 5 minutes when I go
her
d. Jika active voice dalam present tense, maka “be” passive voice-nya
adalah been yang diletakkan setelah auxiliary had, sehingga menjadi had
been.

e. Jika active voice dalam simple future tense, maka ‘be’ passive voice-nya

f. Jika active voice dalam future perfect tense, maka ‘be’ passive voice-nya
adalah been yang diletakkan setelah auxiliary will have, sehingga menjadi
would have been.
Example:
A: He will have met them before I get there tomorrow.
P: They will have been met by him before I get there tomorrow.
g. Jika active voice dalam past future perfect tense, maka ‘be’ passive
voice-nya adalah been yang diletakkan setelah auxiliary would have,
sehingga menjadi will been.
Example :
A: He would have met them
P: They would have been met by him.
h. Jika active voice dalam present continuous tense, maka ‘be’ paasive
voice-nya adalah is, am, or are + being.
Example :
A: He is meeting them now
P: They are being met by him now
i. Jika active voice dalam perfect continuos tense, maka ‘be’ passive
voicenya adalah was ore were + being.
Example :
A: She was watering this plant now.
P: This plant was being wetered by her.
j. Jika active voice dalam perfect continuous tense, maka ‘be’ passive
voice-nya adalah has/have been + being.
Example :
A: she has been watering this plant
P: this plant has been being watered hy her
k. Jika active voice dalam future continuous tense, maka ‘be’ passive
voicenya adalah wiil be + being.
Example :
A: he will be meeting them.

l. Jika active voice dalam past future continuous tense, maka ‘be’ passive
voice-nya adalah would have been + being.
Example :
A: he would be meeting them.
P: they would be being met by him.

CLOSING
A. Conclusion
Transitive verbs have two voice (grammatical variety), which are active voice and
passive voice. The active voice sentence is that of the subject doing the work while the
ambiguous sentence is the subject-subject to the ob. Some of the things thet need attention
in changing the from of the active voice sentence to the formative voice of the changes in
its tensfrom and also its time sign-in.
