This document provides instructions for silently installing the DT Trainer software using an answer file. Silent Install for the DT Trainer

Record Installation Answers


First, you need to run a full install while recording your answers to an ‘iss’ script file.

To do this you will need to:

1. Make sure the DT Trainer installer is accessible from the host system
2. Open a command prompt and then navigate to the directory where the DT Trainer installer is located
3. Run the installer with the following command:
a. <DTT_Installer_Name>.exe /a /r /f1c:\temp\dtt_install.iss
4. Shortly after you run this command the DT Trainer installer will start. You simply run the installer answering all
the prompts to your organization’s specifications.
5. Your install script will be located at: c:\temp\dtt_install.iss
6. Copy this file to a network drive that is accessible to other systems from which you want to install the DT Trainer

Run Silent Installation of the DT Trainer


Once you have your dtt_install.iss script you can run silent installs of the DT Trainer.

1. Make sure the DT Trainer installer is accessible from the host system
2. Open a command prompt and then navigate to the directory where the DT Trainer installer is located
3. Copy dtt_install.iss into the c:\temp directory
4. Run the installer with the following command:
a. start /wait <DTT_Installer_Name>.exe /s /a /s /sms /f1c:\temp\dtt_install.iss
5. Depending on your user access the only prompt you should have to execute is the initial Windows UAC
prompt asking for permission to install
6. If you are sitting at the system watching the silent install (first time verification purposes) please be
patient. The installation takes 5-15 minutes depending on the specs of the computer.
7. If you have errors in your installation please refer to the setup.log file. The log file will be created in
the same directory as your dtt_install.iss script file, which by default will be c:\temp

<DTT_Installer_Name> notation indicates that you should replace the contents between <…> with the actual
name of the installer ‘exe’ file. Currently, if you download from our website the file will be named:
DTTrainer_v2.5.1_Full.exe using this as a file name:

Record Command Example:


 DTTrainer_v2.5.1_Full.exe /a /r /f1c:\temp\dtt_install.iss

Silent Install Command Example:


 start /wait DTTrainer_v2.5.1_Full.exe /s /a /s /sms /f1c:\temp\dtt_install.iss
