PART 1 - GENERAL
Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including Conditions of Contract, apply to
this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each item of the system equipment, Include manufacturer's standard
details and installation and maintenance instructions.
B. Shop Drawings: For each item of the call system. Include plans, elevations, and details
of typical members and other components. List all components of the system, supported
by catalogues and manufacturer's technical data. Show layout and installation details,
including anchorage details and mounting methods.
C. Wiring Diagrams: Detail wiring for disabled toilet call system equipment, signal, and
control systems and differentiate between manufacturer-installed and field-installed
wiring. Show locations of connections to electrical service provided in other Sections.
D. Samples for Initial Selection: Manufacturer's color charts showing the full range of colors
available for equipment with factory-applied color finishes.
E. Qualification Data: For firms and persons specified in "Quality Assurance" Article to
demonstrate their capabilities and experience. Include lists of completed projects with
project names and addresses, names and addresses of architects/engineers and
owners, and other information specified or required by Engineer.
F. Maintenance Data: For the system components to include in the maintenance manuals.
A battery back-up facility shall continue to power the system for up to 24 hours standby and
15 minutes (alarm running time) in the event of mains failure.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
A. The Disabled Toilet Call System should be attractively designed, easy to install and
simple to use, allowing a distressed person to raise a call in the event of an emergency.
To operate, the user simply pull a cord to activate a light and sounder outside the WC.
B. The system should help system operator and service providers comply with the
requirements of BS8300.
1. The call controller shall be complete with onboard 12V power supply unit, a volume
adjustable buzzer, a zonal alarm LED (to provide audible and visual indication of a
call), a mute/reset button (for silencing or canceling calls) and a volt-free relay with
normally open, closed and common contacts. It shall also include a battery back-
up facility that will continue to power the system for up to 24 hours standby and 15
minutes (alarm running time) in the event of mains failure.
3. Technical Specifications:
a. Mains supply: Voltage: 230V a.c.; Max current: 23mA; Frequency: 60Hz.
b. Output Voltage: 12Vd.c.; Current: 140mA; Volt-free relay contacts (NO/C/NC).
c. Indicators: Red alarm present LED; Green supply present LED (flashes green
when battery back up is active in the event of mains failure).
d. Controls: ‘RESET’ Button (link selectable for reset, mute or no function).
e. IP Rating: IP45.
B. Reset Point:
1. The reset point shall be complete with sounder and designed for use alongside the
WC, allowing calls generated by the disabled person to be cancelled at source, i.e.
inside the WC. It also features an on-board reassurance LED and sounder (to
provide audible and visual indication of an alarm call inside the WC and to help
reassure users that help is on its way).

1. The over door indicator shall be complete with light & sounder which shall be used
to provide additional audible and visual indication of an alarm call outside the WC,
featuring a series of ultra-bright LEDs in a triangular shaped diffuser making it
highly visible from a distance. It shall be located directly outside the WC above the
door or above handicapped room doors.

The disabled WC sticker, gloss finished in permanent vinyl featuring the universally
recognizable Disabled WC symbol.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. General: Equipment installation on site shall be limited to the layout and fixation, and
inter-wiring of various items of the ready-made equipment. Acceptance of works is to
be restricted to the equipment and installations complying with the approved submittal,
approved shop drawings, and the agreement of Engineer.
B. Co-ordination with other Works: Undertake the proper co-ordination between the works
and installations of all other associated systems. The layout shop-drawings shall also
reveal the measures taken therein, and every fixation principle, and is to be subject to
the approval of Engineer.
D. Wiring Method: Install wiring in raceway except within consoles, desks, and counters.
Conceal cable and raceway except in unfinished spaces.
E. Splices, Taps, and Terminations: Make splices, taps, and terminations on numbered
terminal strips in junction, pull, and outlet boxes; terminal cabinets; and equipment
enclosures.
F. Identification of Conductors and Cables: Color-code conductors and apply wire and cable
marking tape to designate wires and cables to identify media in coordination with
system wiring diagrams.
3.2 TESTING
B. Operational Test: Perform tests that include alarm components and call points.
C. Schedule tests with at least seven days' advance notice of test performance.
A. Contractor shall provide Manufacturer recommended spare parts for all major
components in the system for two years fault free operation.
B. However, a minimum of 2% peripherals of each type installed, but not less than one
from each type shall be included in the deliverable irrespective of Manufacturer
recommendation.
C. During the Warranty Period, the Contractor shall provide, at his cost, all required spare
parts needed to replace existing components unless it is proved that the component to
be replaced was damaged by abuse.
D. The Contractor shall guarantee the flow and availability of the spare parts without a
major design change for at least ten years period.
3.4 TRAINING
A. The Contractor shall be required to conduct end-user training on Jabal Omar (JO)
premises, tailored specifically to Jabal Omar (JO) 's particular requirements in the use,
configuration and maintenance of the Disabled Toilet Call System.
B. Training shall be provided for Technical Staff of the Employer in the Testing,
Maintenance and Fault Location of the system.
C. For each product, the Contractor shall provide a detailed description of the training the
Manufacturer will provide.
D. Trainers:
1. All training shall be certified training by Manufacturer and trainers shall be approved
by Jabal Omar (JO) before starting.
E. Trainees:
Training for engineers on System operation and maintenance shall be for a minimum of
three (3) engineers.
F. Training Program:
1. Scope:
Training shall be in sufficient scope to ensure that all trainees who complete the
program will be certified as capable to operate and/or maintain the equipment,
systems, and facilities provided and installed under this Contract, and to ensure a
smooth transition between construction and operations activities.

a. Training manuals shall be provided for each training course covering both the
classroom and on-the-job phases.
