Speaker Notes

For this week, outline and learning objectives are to understand the research approaches,

distinctive types of data and data sources and consideration of ethics in the research process.

Another learning outcome is to improve knowledge to design an ethical research project by

using interviews and observation designs.

This will also help to improve our learning about the data analysis concepts and assumption

of testing and correlation

The research design process is based on 2 types of data, such as primary and secondary.

While conducting both types of data, consideration of ethics is very important. Here, ethics

define appropriateness of behaviour while designing a research project.

Different types of ethical issue, which can be faced by the researcher are related to privacy,

confidentiality, anonymity, participation of population, data storage and destruction and

behavioural approach, etc.

In addition to this, the interview can be semi-structured and unstructured, where empathy

should be followed to understand the mindset of participants.

Moreover, observation can be done to develop structure. And to analyse the exact situation of

the participants, ethical observations should be based on ethical principles.

For secondary data collection, different types of qualitative information can be analysed to

develop the concept. Here, articulation and testing of assumptions are essential to present

valid data.
