Introduction
Our UHD Multicast distribution platform allows virtually latency free (1 frame) distribution of HDMI video over a 1Gb
Network switch. The IP200UHD is an industry leading 4K HDCP 2.2 HDMI distribution system that using visually lossless
compression technology, delivers HDMI, Bi-directional IR, RS-232, USB/KVM and CEC up to lengths of 100m over
standard network architecture. The IP200UHD units can be powered via PoE from a PoE Network switch or locally
should the switch not support PoE.
With multiple configuration options available the Multicast solution is ideal for both commercial and residential
installations. Furthermore our ACM200 with in-built web-GUI, AI2.0 Advanced Integration software, pre-built 3rd party

IP200UHD USER MANUAL
Instant Leave / Fast Leave / Immediate Leave - a feature associated with Multicast and means that as soon as an
active connection is no longer required (the link between Transmitter and Receiver) the Multicast group and flow of
track is stopped instantly. This prevents unnecessary flow of network traffic on the network switch.
IGMP Snooping - the process of listening to Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) network traffic. The feature
allows a network switch to listen in on the IGMP conversation between hosts and routers (Transmitters and Receivers).
By listening to this flow of traffic the switch maintains a map of which links need which IP multicast streams. Multicasts
may be filtered from the links which do not need them and thus controls which ports receive specific multicast traffic.
Jumbo Frames / Jumbo Packets / MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) - Ethernet frames with more than 1,500
bytes of payload. Conventionally, jumbo frames can carry up to 9,000 bytes of payload, but variations exist and some
care must be taken when using the term. Many Gigabit Ethernet switches can support jumbo frames.
Please note: Blustream have worked with many network switch providers to create setup guides and saved
configuration files to help configure the products to work with Multicast hardware. These configuration files can be
downloaded from the Blustream website, by selecting the "LAN Switch Guides" button on any Multicast product page.
Multicast products have several LED lights to indicate connectivity status, or to help diagnose connection problems.

Interoperability
The IP200UHD units can be used in conjunction, or added into existing IP100UHD Multicast systems. The following
needs to be considered prior to adding in IP200UHD products to an existing (IP100UHD) Blustream Multicast system:
- USB / KVM connectivity and routing is not available with Blustream IP100UHD units.
- The firmware version of all IPxxxUHD units should be the same for the full feature set of the Multicast system to be
used, and the units to work seamlessly together.
- For firmware versions of the IP100UHD-TX / RX that are currently loaded with the firmware A1.3.4 or lower, the
internal MCU of the unit must be updated before updating the firmware to a later version.
The MCU firmware update can only be undertaken by a member of the Blustream Support Team, and is not
available for installers / integrators to carry out. Please contact us on the email address noted below.
InfraRed Control
The Blustream Multicast system can be controlled using local IR hardware connected directly to the IP200UHD-RX
Receiver. This prevents the need for a third party control solution. Only the source selection feature is available using
local IR control through the Receiver. For advanced features such as video wall mode, audio embedding etc RS-232 or
TCP/IP control will need to be used.
Blustream have created 80x IR commands allowing source selection of up to 80x IP200UHD-TX Transmitters. For
systems larger than 80x source devices (IP200UHD-TX) the ACM200 control module is recommended.
For the complete database of Multicast IR commands, please visit the Blustream website page for any Multicast
product, click on the "Drivers & Protocols" button, and navigate to the folder named "Multicast IR Control".

- The second Receiver ID is ID002 = 169.254.6.2 (IP address 2)
and so on....
Once the ID number has been selected and is correct, confirm the selection by pressing both Channel 'UP' and 'DOWN'
buttons at the same time to move on to setting the scaled output.
4) Set the Video Scaler of the Receiver - once the product ID has been configured the display will begin to flash with
an 's' to indicate that the scaler output is next to be configured. Use the 'UP' or 'DOWN' arrows to select the scaler set-
ting required. A full list of scaler settings can be found on page 21 'Scaler Output Control'.
For example: if the display shows '10' the Scaler output will be 4K 30Hz.
Once the Scaler output that is required for the display connected to the HDMI output of the RX has been set, press both
Channel 'UP' and 'DOWN' buttons at the same time to move onto setting permissions.
5) Setting Permissions - after the scaler output has been set, the permissions of the Receiver now need to be config-
ured. The display in the unit will start to flash with the letters 'CH'. Use the 'UP' or 'DOWN' arrows to select the permis-
sion number required.
Permissions allow for the Receiver to be set up so that it can / cannot access Transmitters within the system. If the sys-
tem has 6x TX units and the RX is set to 05, the Receiver will have access to the first 5x transmitters (ID's 001 - 005) and
not any other Transmitter after. The number set will equal the last Transmitter in the system that can be accessed.
Setting the permission value to '00' ignores the permissions and will mean that the Receiver being manually configur-
ing can therefore access ALL transmitters in the system.
Once the permission value required has been selected, press both Channel 'UP' and 'DOWN' buttons to finalise the
manual configuration.
The Multicast Receiver will then reboot with the new settings applied.
Please note: permissions and users can also be set-up and controlled when using the ACM200 web-GUI.
EDID Control
EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is a data structure that is used between a display and a source. This data
is used by the source to find out what audio and video resolutions are supported by the display device. From this
information the source will discover what the best audio and video resolutions need to be output.
In a normal Matrix based system, issues can arise when multiple displays or video matrix switching is introduced
because of the increased number of variables.
In the Blustream Multicast system each source device only communicates with a single Blustream IP200UHD-TX
Transmitter meaning there is only a single EDID handshake. As each Blustream Multicast IP200UHD-RX Receiver has its
own in-built video scaler, it is advised that the source EDID is set to output the best video signal possible as this can be
down-scaled (as required) at each IP200UHD-RX Receiver.
Configuration of Multicast EDID settings can be achieved in several ways:
1) During the manual configuration of the IP200UHD-TX Transmitter - see previous pages
2) Using the Blustream Multicast AI 2.0 Advanced Integration software
3) Using the Multicast Web-GUI interface (by addressing the unit via it's IP Address within a browser)
4) Using the Web-GUI of the Blustream ACM200
5) Using RS-232 commands via the Blustream ACM200
When configuring the EDID during manual setup, or using RS-232 commands the following table indicates EDID values:
Please note: The Blustream Multicast products do not down-mix Dolby Digital, DTS or 5.1ch audio signals. Should
the end-points (displays) only support 2ch PCM, set the EDID value to match audio formats supported throughout the
system.

IP200UHD USER MANUAL
When configuring the Scaled output during manual setup, or using RS-232 commands, the following table indicates
Scaler settings.
Please note: the maximum output resolution of the IP200UHD-RX is 4K @ 30Hz. Where a source resolution is equal
to 4K @ 50Hz or 60Hz, the output resolution is automatically scaled to 4K @ 25Hz or 30Hz (half the value of the input
frame rate) when the scaler output is left as 'Pass Through'.
It is recommended to try as best as possible to match frame rates throughout the system to reduce the potential of
juddery images.
Display settings can also negatively affect motion on an output image from an IP200UHD-RX. Settings such as 'Motion
Smoothing' should be turned off to aviod this issue. Alternatively, setting the display to 'Game Mode' will turn off all
additional processing within a display.

IP200UHD USER MANUAL
The below instructions are a step-by-step guide to upgrading the firmware in each Multicast product for new units
that are yet to be configured. The firmware update process must be completed one-by-one due to all products
being shipped with the same standard factory set default IP address. Failure to do so may result in corrupting the
firmware in the products, resulting in product failure.
Prior to upgrading the firmware in Blustream Multicast products using either of the above methods it is important to
first complete the below instructions.
1) In order to communicate with the Blustream Multicast hardware a computer will need to be physically connected
to either:
a) A PoE network switch using an Ethernet network cable which is in turn connected to the Blustream
IP200UHD-TX or RX product
b) The Blustream IP200UHD product directly which must be powered locally using a 24-56V DC 1A power
supply (sold separately)
2) IMPORTANT: Prior to connecting the Blustream Multicast IP200UHD product to your network switch/local
power supply, it is recommended that the product is forced into ‘Firmware Upgrade Mode’. Firmware Upgrade
Mode stops the Multicast product from streaming video and activates a status for updating the firmware.
To activate Firmware Upgrade Mode:
a) Whilst un-powered, press both the ‘CH SELECT UP’ and ‘CH SELECT DOWN’ buttons located on the product front
panel at the same time
b) Whilst holding down these buttons, insert the PoE network cable, or local 24-56V DC power supply
c) Do not release the buttons until the product shows ‘PG’ in the status window on the front panel
Please note: Product firmware can be updated without ‘Firmware Upgrade Mode’ but any streaming service to/from
the product must be stopped before proceeding with the firmware upgrade. Failure to do so may result in loss of
firmware transmission packets due to un-necessary traffic on the network.
3) In order to communicate with the Blustream IP200UHD product a computer must also be in the same IP range as
the Blustream IP200UHD-TX/RX's default IP address. Instructions to update a computers IP range can be found in the
‘Changing your computer IP address’ instructions towards the rear of this guide.
The Blustream Multicast AI2.0 ‘Search’ feature and the 'Scan' feature of the ACM200 web-GUI can also be used to
show all connected Multicast products within a system. Entering the fixed IP address (for new units), or the configured
IP address of a configured unit, into a web browser on a PC, gives access to the units configuration for monitoring,
resetting, firmware upgrading, or further configuration.
On entering the unit IP address into a web browser, a username and password prompt will be displayed.
Enter the username: blustream
Enter thas password: 1 2 3 4
Transmitters:
The first product to be assigned an IP address when using the Blustream AI 2.0, or the ACM200 Web-GUI, will be given
the IP address of 169.254.3.1. The next Transmitter will be assigned an IP address of 169.254.3.2 and so on....
Once the IP range of 169.254.3.x is filled (254 units), the unit will be auto-assigned of an IP address from 169.254.4.1 and
so on...
Once the IP range of 169.254.4.x is filled (254 units), the unit will be auto-assigned of an IP address from 169.254.5.1 up
to 169.254.5.254 - this gives a maximum configuration of 762x transmitters in any system using AI 2.0 or the ACM200
Web-GUI.
Receivers:
The first product to be assigned an IP address when using the Blustream AI 2.0, or the ACM200 Web-GUI, will be given
the IP address of 169.254.6.1. The next Receiver will be assigned an IP address of 169.254.6.2 and so on....
Once the IP range of 169.254.6.x is filled (254 units), the unit will be auto-assigned of an IP address from 169.254.7.1 and
so on...
Once the IP range of 169.254.7.x is filled (254 units), the unit will be auto-assigned of an IP address from 169.254.8.1 up
to 169.254.8.254 - this gives a maximum configuration of 762x receivers in any system using AI 2.0 or the ACM200 Web-
GUI.
This part of the guide will explain the use of directly communicating with an individual unit. It is assumed the IP
address of the unit is known. The Web-GUI is similar in function to the Blustream AI 2.0 software with the majority of
options on the Web-GUI being concurrently available within the software, however the units Web-GUI should primarily
be used as a tool for checking configuration, or problem solving, rather than as a method for setting up a new system.

Video Wall:
It is recommended that Video Wall arrays are configured and managed using AI 2.0, or the ACM200 Web-GUI software
only.
Please note: amending the IP address of Multicast products may prevent other Multicast equipment, and the AI 2.0
software from being able to communicate with the unit.
Functions (Transmitter):
Enable Video over IP: on by default. Do not un-check this box.
Enable Video Wall: on by default. Un-checking this will remove Video Wall functionality from the unit.
Maximum Bit Rate: adjust to reduce the amount of data per second that is sent by the Transmitter. Reducing this from
'Best Effort' will result in a reduction of image quality. It is recommended to keep this setting at 'Best Effort'.
Maximum Frame Rate: adjust to reduce the number of frames captured by the Transmitter from the source. Reducing
this from 100% (slider to the right), will result in a reduction of the motion performance of a Multicast Receivers
output when accepting a stream from the Transmitter. It is recommended to keep this setting at 100%.
Audio over IP: choose the source of the embedded audio for the stream (Auto / Line In / HDMI).
USB over IP: individual settings for the use of USB / KVM over Multicast. Choose between differing operational and
compatibility modes.
Serial over IP: enable RS232 pass-through from the Transmitter, utilise this section to configure the serial settings of the
system.
Functions (Receiver):
Enable Video over IP: on by default. Do not un-check this box.
Enable Video Wall: on by default. Un-checking this will remove Video Wall functionality from the unit.
Copy EDID from the Video Output: we would recommend using AI 2.0 or the ACM200 Web-GUI to perform the Copy
EDID function within a system.
Scaler Output Mode: as per page 21, set the scaled output to match the maximum resolution of the display connected
where the display cannot accept the full resolution of the source device.
Timeout for Detecting Video Lost: 10 seconds by default. Adjust this setting to hold the last frame of media received by
the Receiver device before reverting to the Blustream Multicast splash screen where source device is turned
off, or the connection is lost between the source and Transmitter.
Audio over IP: choose the source of the embedded audio for the stream (Auto / Line In / HDMI)
USB over IP: individual settings for the use of USB / KVM over Multicast. Choose between differing operational and
compatibility modes.

When installing CAT cables it is advised to use the best CAT cable quality possible. HDMI distribution products will only
work if used with CAT5e standard cable or above. Blustream recommends using a CAT6 cable for installations, espe-
cially when running over longer distances, in areas of high EMI, or with 4K signal distribution.
