SCORING RUBRIC FOR UNIT 1 VOCABULARY ACTIVITY (PORTFOLIO)

This rubric is going to be used to review and evaluate your first Portfolio task with reference to 30 lexical items of unit 1.

Innovation & creativity

 The created outcome and activity is interesting, new, helpful, making an original contribution to present a set of 30 lexical items
didactically attractive.
 Students use imagination, going outside conventional boundaries when shaping ideas into the product and activity.
 It is new, unique, surprising; shows a personal touch
 It may successfully break rules and conventions, or use common materials or ideas in new, intelligent and surprising ways
 Students create visual aids that are interesting to see and hear
 Students involve the audience actively in the presentation (ask them questions, have them do an activity)
 They combine different elements into a coherent whole

Delivery and Presentation

 It includes elements in the presentation that are particularly fun, lively, engaging, or compelling to the particular audience.
 Students speak clearly; not too quickly or slowly.
 They speak loudly enough for everyone to hear and change tone to maintain interest.
 They speak appropriately for the context and task, demonstrating command of formal English when appropriate.
 They use natural gestures and movements.
 They look poised and confident

Evidence of achievement (quality work) (word definition, phonetic transcription, and complex structure contextualization)

 It includes 30 new concepts from the book related to the topic of unit 1 ALIVE AND WELL / LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
 It has the correct associated phonetic transcription for each lexical item
 It has consistent, accurate usage of terms in complex structures examples with grammatical correctness, good spelling and punctuation.
 It is crystal clear, and the overall appearance shows care and attention to detail

Presentation time length

 Students conclude the activity effectively in the assigned 10 minutes time to present and show the product
