Install Erdas Imagine 2018 Off Campus - Windows

Note: This fact sheet provides guidance for University staff and students who want to install Erdas Imagine
2018 for home use. You can install this software by following the instructions below.
Your computer will need to be connected to the internet for this software to be installed
Please note that the instructions may show pictures of a different version than you are installing.

Downloading Erdas Imagine 2018


1. Go to the Hexagon Geospatial download site: http://download.hexagongeospatial.com/
2. Enter Erdas Imagine 2018 into the Search Downloads field (circled in red below), and click to search:

3. Select ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 from the list of downloads. And the following page will display:

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, complete the Download Registration fields with your Name, email
address, Company (University of Aberdeen, Industry) and address and then click SUBMIT.

5. If this is the first time you have provided Erdas with your email address, you will receive an email from
them asking you to confirm your account – once this has been done, return to the website and then
click DOWNLOAD

6. Choose to save file and then click OK – your software will now download.

Installing Erdas Imagine 2018
1. Locate the Erdas Imagine zip file you downloaded above and extract all the files to a temporary
directory.
2. Go to this temporary directory and double click on Setup.exe

3. A User Account control popup box may appear. Click Yes to allow the program to make changes on the
computer.

4. Click on the plus to the left of ERDAS Imagine 2018.

5. Click on ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 (64-Bit), and then click Install.

6. Click Install to continue the installation.

7. Click Next to continue.

8. Accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.

9. Click Next to accept default installation location or click Change to specify an alternative location

10. Click Install to begin installation – this may take several minutes depending on the speed of your
computer.

11. Click Finish.

12. Select any required file associations, then click Apply followed by Close

Requesting a license
Before you begin the next section, please send an email request to servicedesk@abdn.ac.uk with the
Subject: ERDAS Imagine Single Use License Request and your Name and Contact Phone Number.

Someone from the purchasing group will then generate an Activation ID and send it to you.

Once you receive this, please make a note of your Activation ID. It will be required to license your software.

Licensing Erdas Imagine


1. Open the Geospatial Licensing Administrator 2018 from Start Menu > All Programs > Geospatial
Licensing 2018
2. This will launch the following window

3. Go into the License menu at the top left corner of this screen, and then click Activate License.

4. Click the Add button. Enter the Activation ID that you received via email and click OK.

5. Click the Activate button, followed by Close.

6. Click the cross at the top right corner to close the license administrator.

7. Your ERDAS Imagine 2018 software is now licensed and ready to use.
