 REGULATIONS
Art. 1

The competition is open to instrumentalists of any nationality without age limits; soloists or groups.

Art. 2 Sections

- Keyboard Instruments: piano, organ, harpsichord, accordion, etc. (soloists, assembles for 4 hands, Student - Teacher)
- Strings: violin, viola, violoncello, double bass (soloists, duo, trio, groups)
- Plucked instruments: guitar, harp, mandolin, ethnic instruments, etc... (soloists, duo, trio, groups)
- Wind Instruments: tuba, clarinet, horn, bassoon, flute, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, trombone (soloists, duo, trio, groups)
- Percussions (soloists, duo, trio, groups)
- Chamber and orchestral music: classic, folk, modern (duo, trio, groups)

Art. 3 Category and program

Age Categories (Age to be taken into consideration at the beginning of the competition). For duo, trio and groups the age
should be calculated as an average of the sum of all the ages of the members of the group. The single student is requested
his age during the performance “Student - Teacher”.
- Category A: up to 8 years old - free program with a maximum duration of 5 minutes
- Category B : 9 - 10 years old - Free program with a maximum duration of 8 minutes
- Category C : 11 – 12 years old free program with a maximum duration of 10 minutes
- Category D : 13 - 14 years old - free program with a maximum duration of 10 minutes
- Category E: 15 – 17 years old - free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes
- Category F: 18 – 20 years old - free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes
- Category G: 21 – 27 years old - free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes
- Category H: from 28 years old - free program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes

Art. 4 Financial contribution

- Soloists of Cat. A - 50 €
- Soloists of Cat. B - 60 €
- Soloists of Cat. C, D - 70
- Soloists of Cat. E, F, G, H - 80 €
- Duets and groups of Cat. A, B, C, D - 30 € for each member of the group, but not more than 240 € for the group. If there are
more than 48 members in the group, the financial contribution is 5 € for each group member.
- Duets and groups of Cat. E,F, G, H - 40 € for each member of the group, but not more than 320 € for the group. If there are
more than 64 members in the group, the financial contribution is 5 € for each group member.

One group of competitors can pay with one bank transfer indicated as a purpose of payment names, section and age category of all
participants.
Money transfers by Pay Pal to info@ac-melos.com are accepted from the competitors outside the Euro zone.
All the charges and commissions of all banks or of Pay Pall should be borne by the competitor (the commissions or bank charge will be
considered extra)

PAY ATTENTION: Pay pal should show its commission for the payments. If not, please add 5 Euros more in addition to the sum of
the financial contribution for each participant for the Pay Pal commission.
Upon receipt of an incomplete financial and membership contributions, the competitor is not allowed to participate in the
competition.
The contribution to be paid includes the membership fee of € 5.00 of a supporting member of the Association “Melos APS”.

 Art. 5 Applying process

The Competition Application form should be in Word format accompanied by Membership Application form in PDF or JPEG, by the
identification document and by the receipt of payment of the financial contribution. All the documents should be sent all together with a
cover letter to the e - mail address: info@ac-melos.com.
1. Competition Application form should be filled in with uppercase and lowercase letters as needed In Word format in English.
The application must include a link to the video made according to the rules (read the rules for registration on page 4).
2. Membership Application form should be completed in Word format, printed, signed by hand and scanned in PDF or JPEG
format. For numerous groups – only one application form should be filled in for all members of the group creating a common
list with the data of each contestant and the signature of each of them.
3. Scanned passport or birth certificate (in the case of a minor a parents’ personal document is requested with signature on the
application for membership)
For groups - the list of participants with their birth dates signed and sealed by the institution administration.
4. Scanned receipt of financial contribution for the competition

Incomplete application forms will not be accepted.

Art. 6 Jury, scores, rewarding

The jury is composed of teachers of Superior Music Institutes, prominent musicians of the country of the competition and teachers
with the best results from the past on-line competitions( see ours jury members). The jury's decision is final and non appealable.
Final score is the result of the sum of the arithmetic average of the scores of all the judges on a 100- point scale.

DIPLOMA OF GRAND PRIX –100/100. It is one in every category.

DIPLOMA OF FIRST PRIZE - from 95 to 99 points.
DIPLOMA OF SECOND PRIZE - from 90 to 94 points.
DIPLOMA OF THIRD PRIZE - from 85 to 89 points.
DIPLOMA OF PARTICIPATION – to all the other participants
Honorable Diploma – to all teachers.

The jury has the right to award an unlimited number of prizes in each category.
All competitors will receive the diplomas and jury comments by e mail.

• Honorable Diploma with the title "Best teacher" and the invitation in jury of one of the next competitions – to the
teachers with the highest results in every section (at least two or more first prizes or of one Grand Prix).
• Invitation in jury for the Grand Prix of categories G, H.
• The winners of Grand Prix and some of the first prizes (at the choice of the organizing committee) will be invited to take
part in the International Concert “Uniti nella Musica” in the Academic Hall of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome in
March of 2023 (in case of the situation with corona virus still problematic the concert will be held online) and will get a 50 %
discount for the participation in the International Music Competition “MELOS” that will be held in the same hall at the same
period.

Art. 7
Taking part in the web competition, the competitors automatically waives the right to financial compensation for the publication and distribution of photos and music
video recordings on CD, DVD or in Internet.

Art. 8
Applying to the competition implies knowledge and unconditional acceptance of the rules and of the statute of the Association herein.

Art. 9
Each candidate agrees to the processing of his personal data the Cultural Association "Melos APS" for the realization of the institutional purposes of the
Association, to the extent necessary to fulfill obligations under the law and the statutory, for loading videos and photos recorded for or during the events on YouTube
or on the Association’s website( www.ac-melos.com), for mailing of newsletters, in accordance with the Italian Law concerning the "Protection of Personal Data"
no.101/2018 implementing Regulation UE no.2016/679.

Art. 10
In case of contestations, the Italian text will be legally binding.

 The applying procedure
1. Recording a video during the performance.

The video recording of good quality should meet the following criteria:

• It is not allowed to use the video recorded in previous concerts and previous competitions.
• During the filmed performance competitor’s instrument, face and hands should be clearly visible. For groups -all
participants should be clearly visible.
• All pieces should be recorded in a single performance without stopping the camera. It is not allowed to cut and
assemble different videos.
• It is not allowed to modify the recording by using computer programs, voice-overs, dubbing, etc.

The video should be posted on YouTube. The link should be indicated in the application form.
- Title your video: Surname and Name (Country)
- In the “Description” field indicate: 1. Name of the Competition and year 2. Instrument, Age category 3. Authors and
names of compositions performed.
-
Videos with no title will be rejected according to the rules.

It Is allowed to use the same video registration for more competitions, but it is necessary to load it once more on You Tube
and write the new competitions’ title in the “ Description field”.
2. Send all the documents attached to the cover letter to the info@ac-melos.com

• Competition Application form

• Membership Application form
• Scanned passport or birth certificate (for minor – the parent who signs the membership application as well)
• Scanned receipt of financial contribution for the competition
Application will not be accepted if in the letter some of required documents are missing.

3. Few days after the deadline for submission of applications

The list of competitors with their programs and links to the video will be accessible on the website www.ac-melos.com .
The competitor should find out if his video is present on the list.

4. All further information

All further information about the jury members and the results of the competition will be published on the website.

5. At the end of the competition

An electronic copy of the participants’ and teachers’ diplomas, jury members’ comments will be sent to the competitors’ e-
mail addresses..
In case of some anomalies on the diploma, the competitor should immediately inform the organizing committee.
The cost of shipment for the original diploma by ordinary post is 15 euro or 30 euro for a shipment by courier identified by a
tracking number.
