Cooper Power Systems offers the AZEH and AZEX line of Station Class surge arresters for customers who
require higher energy handling than offered in our AZES product line. See Catalog Section 235-87 for details
of the construction and application issues pertinent to all AZE surge arresters. This data sheet contains the
electrical ratings, characteristics, and physical data specific to Type AZEH and AZEX surge arresters.

The ability to withstand 60 Hz overvoltage conditions (Temporary Overvoltage (TOV)) is shown in Figure 1 for
all VariSTAR AZE arresters. The graph shows for a given voltage magnitude (on a Per Unit of MCOV basis),
the time an arrester can survive a TOV condition without going into thermal runaway.
