“Museo it Akean” can be found in the heart of the town of Kalibo,Aklan. If you
wanted to know the history of Aklan then this is the best place for you to know and
find someartifacts and relics of Aklan history. Actually, we find out that “Museo
it Akean” has 6 categories. There you could see the “talibong” or bolo and some
livelihood things, somearts for sale that is made by some Early Aklanons, the
Japanese relics display like the Samurai swordand also some early weapons made
by the early Aklanons that were very important to them during that time especially
their own kitchen utensils, and the early paintingsthat are genuine and brilliantly
made. But most importantly, the highlight of the museum is the feature of the
Father of Aklan.
We are so much interested with the awesome display of antiques that couldbe seen
inside the Museo of Aklan. There are indigenous materials created that were so
valuable in the past. Many visitors, including me and my classmates, are
fascinated to take pictures inside the museum because all the displays looks
valuable and sacred and we also respect the thought not to touch anything that is
inside. One of the displays that captures my attention is the exhibit of the father of
Aklan with his wife wearing a beautiful different dresses that is made of Piña cloth.
There are also displays of trophies and awards that was given to him in honor of
his good deeds. There are also pictures of his family and the sightings of what the
Father of Aklan has done to make our town great as it is today.
It’s amazing to know how they had preserved all the valuable things and features
during the early days of Aklan. We were able to collect facts about the father of
Aklan who is known as “Godofredo P. Ramos” . He was a native of Malay town in
Aklan. Knowing his background, we were able to confirm that he was the first
congressman of Aklan, who authored the House Bill No. 334 proposing the
separation of Aklan to Capiz. And the bill was approved by the House of
Representatives on May 9, 1955 and by the Senate on April 16, 1956. It was finally
signed by President Ramon Magsaysay as Republic Act No. 1414. He died in the
year 1977 were he was also a delegate and a Governor ofAklan. He has
contributed so much in the province of Aklan that’s why he deserved to be called
as “The Father of Aklan.”
