MODULE 1:
DIVERSITY IN THE CLASSROOM
Lesson 1: CONCEPT OF DIVERSITY

INSTRUCTION (choose one from the two options)

Option 2:
1. Ask two friends (A and B) of the same educational level to have a virtual session or, if
possible, meet up with you.
2. Let them talk to each other while you observe them.
3. Friend A will start telling about himself or herself to friend B for 3 minutes. Friend B will
listen and refrain from asking questions. Friend B can write down information disclosed
by friend A.
4. Your two friends will exchange roles, and this time friend B will have 3 minutes to talk
about himself or herself while friend A will listen, not ask questions and can write down
information disclosed by friend B.
5. After the sharing, let your friends A and B present individually on a piece of paper their
similarities and differences in a Venn diagram and let them submit their outputs to
you.
6. Attach at least 2 photos of your two friends sharing information and photos of their
individual diagrams as documentation.

7. Write your learning insights of the activity and include a discussion as to where your
friends’ diversity falls based on the diagrams they submitted.

8. Answer this question: Why is it important for every teacher to understand learner
diversity?
