notice those small defects until you pause examine yourself.

EVALUATION

-Evaluating is part of supervising. It is defined as evaluating the value, quality, or significance of people, ideas or
things.

INSPIRING SUBORDINATES
It is much easier to get people to do something if they have the drive to do so. Inspire means to “breathe life
in”. and to do that we have a life of our own.

Three main actions will aid you accomplishing this:

1. Be passionate
2. Involve subordinates in the decision-making process
3. Know what your organization is about

TRAINING AND COACHING

Training and coaching are two different things, although some use them interchangeably:

Training- is a structured lesson designed to give people the knowledge and skills to perform a task

Coaching- is a process designed to help the employee to develop more expertise and resolve obstacles to improving
job performance

Condition of learning
To be successful in guiding subordinates, the leader must familiarize himself with these learning conditions and
strictly follow them while training his people:

a. The person must be motivated to learn

b. Involve you subordinates in the process

The Six Types of Power for Leaders

1. Coercive Power is often the least effective but most employed (and abused) type of power in the corporate
world.
Coercive Power is forcing someone to do something against their will or setting up “consequences” to
employee actions.
2. Reward Power is the concept of do this and get that. Or (said another way) if you do this, you will receive
something in return.
3. Legitimate Power is the power of position or role. This is the typical “command and control” structure that is
employed by the Military world.
Legitimate Power acts as a formalized way of ensuring that there is someone to make a decision (good or
bad) and that someone is responsible.
4. Expert Power Closely related to Informational Power, Expert Power is when an individual possesses in-
depth information, knowledge, or expertise in the area that they are responsible. This type of power is often
the most effective type of power.
5. Referent Power is the “cult of personality”. This is the power and ability for an individual to attract others
and to build loyalty within them.
Referent Power is also the power of respect. This can occur through time if a leader is successful and has a
well-known track-record of success

Informational Power is the power of having information that another does not have, or, the distribution of information
as a means of effecting change. This could be positive or negative propaganda, knowledge of an opponent’s
strategy, or detailed information that is used in decision support.
