Ramayanam Part 1

Rama is the embodiment of dharma according to Sathya Sai Baba. The story of Ramayana is considered a profound allegory that is personally meaningful to all. It describes how Rama was born as the eldest son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya and always followed the path of dharma. However, due to a conspiracy led by Queen Kaikeyi, Rama was exiled to the forest for 14 years while Kaikeyi's son Bharata was made heir to the throne against his will. Rama, his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana then began their exile in the forest.

RAMAYANA

PART 1
Swami’s Pearls on Ramayana
“Rama Navami, the birth of Sri Rama is celebrated in all
lands. Rama had deed, word and thought, body, speech and
mind, ever pure and totally free from blemish. Really
speaking, one ought to revere the story of Rama as a
profound allegory. Every act and actor in that story attracts
attention and gets imprinted on the memory because the
allegory is personal to each of us... It is often said that Rama
followed dharma at all times. This is not the correct way of
describing him. He did not follow dharma, he was dharma.
What he thought, spoke, and did was dharma and
is dharma forever.”
Sathya Sai Baba, 18th April 1986

The name Rama is the essence of the Vedas; the story of Rama is an ocean of milk,
pure and potent. It can be asserted that no poem of equal grandeur and beauty has
emerged from other languages or from other countries until this very day, and it has
provided inspiration to the poetic imagination of every language and country. It is the
greatest treasure inherited by their good fortune by every Indian.
Ratnakhara became Valmiki after intense tapas - japa on Lord Raama’s
name that was bestowed to him by the Saptarishis. Later he wrote
Ramayana…during Ramarajya.

powerful as 10 scholars. He
however does not have control
over the five senses and five bodily
instruments of action. His
counterpart, Rama, on the
contrary, is always in full control of
these ten.
