PART 1: ESSAY

Within the past few years there has been a growing concern about the fact that
committing crimes has become something quite popular among teenagers. We are
constantly receiving news about young people getting involved in crimes and suffering
from some severe punishment as well. Nowadays, authorities are trying to solve -or at
least improve- this situation. People in the media are also arguing about the purposes of
such crimes.

On the one hand, some professionals, like psychologists and paediatricians, very
much agree on the idea that parents play an important role in the attitudes of young
people. Indeed, they are the ones that are supposed to teach their children good
manners, values and how to be polite as well. This is why, unsurprisingly, when we
discuss young people getting involved in crimes, we nearly always deal with parent’s
lack of control. This is a good reason to believe that without the presence, determination
and tenacity of adults, many teenagers are probably going to behave badly.

On the other hand, we may all agree that teenagers' behaviour does not always
rely on how favourable parenting is. In fact, there are other factors that may influence
young people who are constantly getting into trouble, for example, most people believe
that the children’s friendship represents a crucial influence on their lives. They are all
the time trying to resemble the majority as much as they can, that is to say they try
really hard to behave, speak and think the same as the people of their age. However,
they need to be careful about who they are trying to look like and avoid gathering with
teenagers who might encourage them to commit some sort of crime.

In conclusion, the fact that young people get involved in crimes is becoming
more and more frequent, therefore, as a society, we need to start thinking of beneficial
ways to prevent these crimes from happening!

PART 2: REPORT:
Report on an exchange programme

Introduction:

The purpose of this report is to comment on some aspects of my experience

while taking part in an exchange programme. Subjects such as where I went to, who I
stayed with, what I did during my visit and a comparison with a previous visit, are
going to be discussed.

Where I went to? Who I went with?

I am currently living in the United States, but last month, I spent a whole week
in a former country, Argentina, as part of an exchange programme. This was not my
first-time taking part in these kinds of programmes, indeed I had already been to
Argentina five years ago. Fortunately, in both opportunities I was able to choose a
partner to go with, and this was my best friend, Emma.

What did I do?

Emma and I spent one week in April travelling all around Argentina. First of all,
we spent two days in the south of the country, more precisely in the province of ‘Tierra
del Fuego’. There we visited the most breath-taking glacier I had ever seen, the ‘Glaciar
Pertito Moreno’, which is an ancient national park and a place of great importance for
tourism as well. After that, we travelled to ‘Jujuy’ and ‘Salta’, two provinces in the
north of the country, where we stayed for three days. Because of people being so
charming and lovely, we were able to learn about local music, costumes and a bit of
history as well as visiting the astonishing hill known as the ‘Cerro de Siete Colores’.
Finally, during the last two days we arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital city,
where we went to well-known museums, historical buildings, art galleries and popular
restaurants!

Comparison with my last visit a few years ago.

Five years ago, hoping to travel to a former country and learn about culture
during the trip, my friend and I were offered a journey to Argentina. Although the
experience was unforgettable, now we both agree that this first trip was nothing
compared to our last one! For example, when we first came to Argentina, we knew so
little about the local language that communication was a problem. However, during our
last visit, we were able to have fluent conversations with local people, therefore, we
could learn more about this amazing country!

Conclusion.

If you are looking forward to some holidays that will allow you to travel, visit
and learn about different cultures, then I would definitely recommend you to take part in
an exchange programme. It is such a favourable idea for young travellers to visit
unknown places that more and more people are becoming interested in it. Send your
applications now and give yourself a chance!
