Corporate VDI infrastructure


Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is desktop environments on a central server where a user is assigned
a desktop from the pool the first time, they log on and access applications.

This document describes to create an account, login and start using the VDI desktop using browser
Prerequisites – Latest browser required to get started (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox)

1. Setting a VDI account password


An invite is sent to your Microland email ID to set the VDI password of your choice (Please set
14-character password) for accessing as shown in the below image and follow the steps.
(Minimum 1 uppercase, 1 special character, 2 Numerical)

Kindly use a strong password to set your password. We strongly suggest a 14-character password that
contains minimum 1 uppercase, 1 special character and 2 numerical.

2. Login to the VDI account

On the browser Login URL for accessing VDI https://frame.nutanix.com/

Click to “I Accept” to proceed to VDI access

3. Launch your virtual desktop

Click on the Desktop icon as shown to start using the virtual desktop.

The VDI powering on session may take above 2 minutes to setup and launch, please be patient

You this login page please use your domain credentials to login. This is like your desktop login and the
credentials you will be using will be your AD account.

Upon successful login you will be logged into the VDI desktop as shown below. If you have access
enabled to use Skype or Teams, please login to the applications using your domain credentials
(Instructions are given in the document below)

To enable Audio (Speaker and Microphone) to communicate using Teams/Skype enable the setting on
the browser as shown in above image. On your browser click the icons to enable / disable audio or mic

4. Application access procedure

• Teams Access
For Teams usage enter your Microland email ID and domain password (provide your ID is enabled for
Teams)

• Skype
For Skype for Business usage enter your Microland email ID and domain password (provide your ID is
enabled for Skype for Business)

• OneDrive
For OneDrive usage enter your Microland email ID and domain password (provide your ID is enabled for
OneDrive)

Note: Please do not save any files on the VDI as the VDI will be destroyed once the session is terminated.

• Open Source Office


For access of any Word, Excel and PPT use LibreOffice

For email access, login to Web mail on the browser using the URL: https://mail.microland.com/ for on
premises user and the URL: https://portal.office.com/ for O365 users.

5. Important Notice
• Please do not save any documents on C Drive (Desktop, Downloads and Documents) folder on
VDI. The VDI will be deleted once the session is closed. To save your data please use “Personal
Disk” mapped drive to your PC or we prefer to save it on email.
• No data can be copied from your local device to the VDI or vice versa.
• Use https://mail.microland.com for accessing your on-prem corporate emails.
• Use https://portal.office.com to access O365 resources.
