Computer-aided design (CAD) software allows designers to create and modify digital designs and models of products. There are different types of CAD modeling including solid modeling, wireframe modeling, and surface modeling. CAD software is used across many industries like architecture, product design, graphic design, and engineering. It offers advantages like streamlined design processes, improved quality designs, better documentation and communication of designs, and databases for manufacturing. Popular CAD software packages include SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD, and CATIA. CAD modeling is important as it enables visualization of designs before manufacturing and consideration of elements like electricity and plumbing in comprehensive designs.

INTRODUCTIO

Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computers

MODELLING OF
CAD
Computer-aided design, also known as 3D Modelling,
allows designers to test, refine and manipulate virtual
products prior to production. These high-quality 3D
designs are identical in dimension and detail to the
desired finished product, ensuring quality and
accuracy for production.
Four types of
modelling data used
in CAD
three major types of 3D modeling
that fall under the rubric of CAD
software: solid modeling,
wireframe
modeling, and surface
modeling. These three types are
further divided into subtypes
Applications & Workflows

Architecture: Architecture is one of the most demanding disciplines when

talking about CAD; there are so many elements involved during the design
of a project that one almost needs software support.
Example: Large design companies usually use BIM modeling software like
Revit or ArchiCAD to improve productivity, but small design firms more
typically combine different tools in their workflow. This is the case for
architect Eric Reinholdt, for example, who runs a YouTube channel and
his own studio, called 30×40 Design Workshop. He claims to use
AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and Lightroom for his daily
Product design: Industrial designers use CAD software not only to
visualize an object but also to understand and confirm how it will
function. Tools like Fusion 360, Inventor, or SolidWorks are the
most commonly used.
Example: Grovemade is a company focused on developing high-
quality wood products. They use Fusion 360 in their workflow of
CAD and CAM tools, making work more efficient.
Graphic design: Professional graphic design also makes use of 2D or
3D CAD software to create visualizations. This kind of software lets
designers add effects, typography, shapes, and backgrounds to
improve their visuals.
Example: Matthew Encina is a designer and content creator who
uses Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects as his main tools
to develop branding and interactive experiences for his clients.
Engineering: Given the many and diverse engineering fields, the
types of CAD programs used by engineers is also many and
diverse. Some of the most common targets include
infrastructure, buildings, circuits, telecommunications networks,
thermodynamics, mechanical parts, medical devices, and
manufacturing.
Example: In a complex project made possible thanks to BIM, the
Engineering Research Center of Brown University in 2017, the
architecture firm Kieran Timberlake, and the company
BuroHappold Engineering coordinated design.
ADVANTAGES OF
CAD
A Streamlined Design Process. When a
designer is working with CAD, they can

Increase in the Engineer ’s productivity
Improve record keeping through better documentation and communication
Today, the use of CAD has permeated almost all industries. From aerospace,
electronics to manufacturing, CAD is used in all industry verticals. Since CAD
encourages creativity and speeds up productivity, it is becoming more and more
useful as an important tool for visualization before actually implementing a
manufacturing process. That is also one of the reasons CAD training is gaining
more and more importance.
Types of CAD Software
IMPORTANT OF CAD MODELLING
It helps users creating designs in
either 2D or 3D so that they can
visualize the construction. CAD
enables the
development, modification, and
optimization of the design process.
... CAD enables designers to consider
electricity, plumbing, and other
elements, helping to create a more
comprehensive design.
Basic Components of a CAD
System
Effective computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
programs include the following main components: the user-interface (UI) and the
application logic.

In turn, the application logic of the CAD/CAM software itself consists of the
following parts:

the database;
3D visualization suite;
mesher;
In this post, we’ll take a look at the specific capabilities you need out of
each application logic component in order to build a fully capable
CAD/CAM system
FUTURE SCOPE
Scope of the AutoCAD on the large scale of the civil engineering as well as
mechanical engineering field. AutoCAD is a worldwide used and valid
software for 2D as well as 3D drawing. In Industrial area the main purpose
is production of various component within less time and in effective
manner. Now a day for industrial work in civil as well as mechanical
engineering AutoCAD software must be required. Even one can start their
career after 10th standard by doing diploma in civil engineering or
draftman course. EME Technologies provide a very good platform for
industrial training in which we used various designing software for
industrial projects having live projects.
