Introduction

The students of the CAPE Physical Education and Sport (Unit 2), Class of 2021, Denbigh High

School were asked to plan, organize, and execute a sporting competition for our International

Assessment. The event was scheduled to take place on March 12, 2022; this was decided and

agreed on by all members of the class. The name chosen for the event was "King of The Turf"

which was to be held on the school grounds of Denbigh High. The main plan was to invite

participants from neighboring high schools to participate. A total of ten (7) teams participated in

the event; these teams are as followed; Garvey Maceo High, Central High School, Foga Road

High, Glenmuir High, Clarendon College, Lennon High and Denbigh high school. Moreover, the

main objective of this event was for all students to have a better understanding of planning,

organizing and how to successfully execute events that will benefit us in planning similar events

later. We the students were accountable for all the planning, organizing and execution of the

competition. The roles included planning the games, promoting the event, conducting

fundraising activities, seeking sponsorships, and officiating the games being played by the teams.

All members of the group were assigned different roles to carry out in order for the event to be

successful.

The IA portfolio consists of four sections (4); Research, Planning, Implementation and

Appendix. The research section comprises the rationale, questionnaire, analysis, and the

conclusion. On the other hand, the planning section consists of the project team and roles,

schedule of the event, volunteers' roles, meeting agenda, letters of permission, letters of

invitation, sponsorship letters, benefit to the sponsors, resource list and a budget. The

implementation section includes the entry fee receipt, registration forms, fixtures, match cards,
score sheet and the award ceremony. The final section, which is the Appendix, includes citations,

photos of the event planning committee, preparation of activities, meetings, opening of venue,

opening ceremony (Instructions and welcome) and award ceremony.

Firstly, we would like to take the time out to thank God for providing each member with

the strength necessary in completing this portfolio. We would also like to express our gratitude to

Denbigh High and our fellow schoolmates who volunteered to be a part of the competition

wholeheartedly. In addition, a big thank you goes out to our teacher Mr. Morgan, who also gave

us guidance throughout the competition. Finally, we must also thank our parents and friends for

the immense support and help during this project.

Without their time and effort, the completion of this project would have been very difficult.
