CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Starting a crochet earrings business requires a passion for earrings

design. If you’ve ever wanted to break into the fashion business, you may want to

check out our crochet earrings sample plans. Crochet earrings business is

according to the trend now especially this summer women can use her to match

their attire especially on the beach. The target customer of our product is the

people in Cuenca, Batangas. They can buy through online, they can order on our

fb page and they can also buy in person. We choose a unique product that no

one is starting this kind of business. Emphasizing a quality customer experience

that leads to repeat purchases, loyalty and referrals helps amplify long-term

revenue. Precise pricing attracts the right buyers who are willing to pay for quality

and innovation. Do things better or to find ways to get the same or greater value

without a lower investment. Our business could become profitable immediately or

take three years or longer to make money. The pricing of our product will vary

according to the expenses and the cost of raw materials used in creating crochet

earrings.

Crocheting is a kind of art that is fun and creative. It never goes out of

style. It is always trendy, helpful, and attractive. Many people love crafts and

other handmade items because of their significance in social, emotional, and

psychological aspects. Handmade craft is one of the best gifts one could give to

someone as it is one of a kind, it is personal, feels good, lets us connect with the

person, and is always a good idea. These are the reasons why the business

partners choose this line of business.

CEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

In this study, the effect of crochet earrings on teenagers when it comes to

fashion trends. For this reason the researcher formulated the conceptual

paradigm of the study to help her in the conduct of the procedure. The figure

below show the paradigm:

The figure shows the paradigm of the study, in the first box, the researcher

presents the good quality of our product. The second box deals with the time

management in providing the product to the customer. And lastly, presents the

improvement of our product to satisfy the customers.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study attempted to find women in Cuenca who were willing to buy our

crochet earrings product. It specifically sought answers to the following

questions:

How many the respondents be described in terms of:

• Name

• Age

• Gender

Questionnaire:

1. Are crochet earrings suitable for teenagers in this generation?

2. Are crochet earrings fashionable?

3. Is it aesthetically pleasing?

4. Are you willing to make crochet earrings?

5. If you buy this, will you give it to someone?

6. Will you recommend our product to your colleagues?

RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS

There is no denying that society is ever-changing. Tastes and trends are a

good example of how things have changed. The shift in popular clothing styles,

particularly among women. When other firms shift or influence the customer in

new trends, it has an impact on our business. Fashions and taste in the use of

accessories are rapidly changing in the surroundings, particularly among girls.

We can sell a lot of our things initially, but as time goes on, people start to look

for new fashions to wear.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The primary beneficiaries of the study are the participants who will benefit

positively from the program:

To the producers and consumers, this study will help them recognize the

impact of using crochet earrings on teenagers when it comes to fashion trends.

To the sellers and suppliers, this study is beneficial for them to know the different

factors that drive people in consuming and purchasing crochet earrings. This will

help them identify the reasons and things that people consider before buying and

consuming crochet earrings which is significant for their marketing plans and

strategies.

SCOPE, LIMITATIONS, AND DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

Understanding fashion trends forecast is one of the most arduous and

calculative work for all. I know most of the top business houses around the world

totally rely on designers for understanding the same, but on the other side there

are others who don't believe in it at all. In current times when we look at

technology we know nothing is by chance and there are people who are working

behind the scenes, day and night to make things appear easy and affordable to

us. Question which often comes to our mind is which trend forecast to use and

how we can understand it better. Many technological forecasting methods have

been reported in various forecast related books & mentioned in literature of many

countries, and they have been successfully applied widely. As trend forecasting

results are mainly influenced by the forecasting method used by the end user, it

is of utmost importance to determine the method that will be most appropriate to

a business model you adopt.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

This study provides the list of words with their corresponding meaning that you

will encounter in the content of this paper. This will help you understand more

are interpreted depending on how the researchers used it in the content.

BLO/BL = back loop only (looking at the top of the stitch, you will see two “loops”.

If you see this in a pattern, only work stitches in the back loop

FLO/FL = front loop only (looking at the top of the stitch, you will see two “loops”.

If you see this in a pattern, only work stitches in the front loop

Magic Circle/Magic Ring = This is a special slip knot that you work your stitches

in when beginning projects in the round (like hats).

CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter explains about crochet souvenirs, traditional food and tutorial

videos.

CONCEPTUAL LITERATURE

2.1 Souvenir

According to, a souvenir is the thing that can remind the visitor about the place

that they visited. Others, Prakosa and Cheon (2013) explains more that souvenir

as the thing which has the function to remind about some experiences and it is

produced as commercial and rarely connected as universal to tourists.

2.2 Crochet

There are some definitions of crochet that are said by the experts. According

to Solovay (2016), Crochet is a needlework technique performed using a crochet

hook plus fiber or other similar material. Bradley (2006) adds that Crochet is an

extremely popular technique, and as with knitting that can be combined to create

fantastic garments and accessories.

CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methods and procedure research applied to the

gathering data in the research. It contains the research design, respondents,

sampling technique, the research instrument used and he statistical treatment of

the data.

RESEARCH DESIGN

This study descriptive design is defined as a research method that

describes the characteristics of the population that is being studied. The purpose

of a descriptive study is to provide a picture of a situation, person or event or

show how things are related to each other and as it naturally occurs

(Blumberg, Cooper and Schindler, 2005). However, descriptive studies cannot

explain why an event has occurred and is much suitable for a relatively new

or unexplored research area (Punch, 2005). Therefore, in a situation of

abundant descriptive information, alternative research designs such as

explanatory or exploratory approach is advisable.

RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY

The researchers include 20 consumers/ purchasers/ suppliers/ sellers of

crochet earrings near the researchers’ area specifically in the municipality of

Cuenca, Batangas as the participants in data gathering of this study. The

researchers also randomly selected people to ensure a well representation and

distribution of the respondents.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The researcher utilized the online survey form as the major instrument for

gathering data. They believe that through this instrument, they will be able to

collect the necessary data from the respondents and participants.

PREPARATION OF THE INSTRUMENT

Gathering data from different sources such as books, magazines, and

thesis findings were done by the researchers as preparation of the questionnaire.

After gathering necessary information and data needed, they organized and

outlined it according to the statement of the problem. The initial copy of the draft

of the questionnaires were submitted and presented to the professor of Research

for corrections, comments, and suggestions. They prepared a soft copy of the

questionnaires on a google form to prepare for the distribution of the online

survey forms to participants.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

It is critical that we continue to follow the systematic approach and begin

working data gathering once we have selected what design our research will be

based on. We must also select how we will gather data, after deciding what data

to acquire, of course. Furthermore, it is vital to note that we will collect data

based on how useful it will be in the research as well as its effectiveness. We

must be aware of any potential challenges that may arise during the data

collection procedure. So, in order to obtain accurate data, we must first ensure

that we have established precise selection criteria. As a result, when conducting

research, we must assess if the research is authentic or heuristic, analytic or

deductive, in order to ensure that our findings are totally true. For example in

quantitative research, we can collect data through open observations, record

reviews, diaries and interviews, verbal reporting, questionnaires, tests. Then

whatever the means by which we will collect data, we have to assure it is reliable,

consistent, and accurate and we can trust the info. Finally, the instruments to

collect data must suit the research goal. However, it is not always going to fit to

the letter and when that happens we can use a ready-made instrument even

though it does not match the research needs.

SCORING AND INTERPRETATION OF RESPONSES

The researchers used different scales of values with their respective verbal

interpretations. On the specific question, which is about the effect of crochet

earrings on teenagers when it comes to fashion trends

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

The following statistical treatments were employed to give meaning to the

data gathered:

1. Weighted Mean. (Paler Calmorin and Calmorin 1996: 115-116). It was

used to find out the answer to the two problems.

2. Ranking. It was used to determine the rank obtained by each item

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This chapter presents the results of the survey questionnaire the researchers
conducted. This chapter also shows the findings and analysis of data gathered.

out 52 respondents answered that they are 15-16 years old, which is equivalent

to 17.3%. 30 out of 52 respondents answered that they are 17-18 years old,

which is equivalent to 57.7%. 13 out of 52 respondents answered that they are

19 years old, which is equivalent to 25%.

37 out of 52 respondents answered that they are female that is 71. 2%. And 15

out of 52 respondents answered that they are male that is equivalent to 28.8%.

Question 1 shows the percentage or number of respondents who answer in the


question "Are crochet earrings suitable for teenagers in this generation?" 46 out
of 52 respondents answered yes, which is equivalent to 88.5%.

Question 2 shows the percentage or number of respondents who answer in the


question "Are crochet earrings fashionable?" 49 out of 52 respondents answered
yes, which is equivalent to 94.2%. 3 out of 52 respondents answered no, which is
equivalent to 5.8%.

Question 3 shows the percentage or number of respondents who answer in the


question "Is it aesthetically pleasing?" 48 out of 52 respondents answered yes,
which is equivalent to 92.3%. 4 out of 52 respondents answered no, which is
equivalent to 7.7%.

Question 4 shows the percentage or number of respondents who answer in the


question "Are you willing to make crochet earrings?" 39 out of 52 respondents
answered yes, which is equivalent to 75%. 13 out of 52 respondents answered
no, which is equivalent to 25%.

Question 5 shows the percentage or number of respondents who answer in the


question "If you buy this, will you give it to someone?" 49 out of 52 respondents
answered yes, which is equivalent to 94.

Question 6 shows the percentage or number of respondents who answer in the


question "Will you recommend our product to your colleagues?" 52 out of 52
respondents answered yes that is equivalent to 100%.

CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter shows the summary of findings revealed in this study, the

conclusion presents the findings, and the recommendation offered base from the

conclusion present.

SUMMARY

This study was conducted to determine the effect of crochet earrings on


teenagers when it comes to fashion trends.
These study answer the following questions:
1. Are crochet earrings suitable for teenagers in this generation?
2. Are crochet earrings fashionable?
3. Is it aesthetically pleasing?
4. Are you willing to make crochet earrings?
5. If you buy this, will you give it to someone?
6. Will you recommend our product to your colleagues?

SUMMARY FINDINGS
The primary focus of this research is to determine the effect of crochet earrings
on teenagers when it comes to fashion trends. The researchers used the
availability sampling wherein the person who showed their willingness to
participate in the study, 37 out of 52 respondents answered that they are female
that is 71. 2%. And 15% answered that they are male that is equivalent to 28.8%.

1. The percentage or number of respondents who answer in the question "Are


crochet earrings suitable for teenagers in this generation?" 46 out of 52
respondents answered yes which is equivalent to 88.5%. 6 out of 52 respondents
answered no which is equivalent to 11.5%.
2. The percentage or number of respondents who answer in the question "Are
crochet earrings fashionable?" 49 out of 52 respondents answered yes which is
equivalent to 94.2%. 3 out of 52 respondents answered no which is equivalent to
5.8%.
3. The percentage or number of respondents who answer in the question "Is it
aesthetically pleasing?" 48 out of 52 respondents answered yes which is

equivalent to 92.3%. 4 out of 52 respondents answered no which is equivalent to


7.7%.
4. The percentage or number of respondents who answer in the question "Are
you willing to make crochet earrings?" 39 out of 52 respondents answered yes
which is equivalent to 75%. 13 out of 52 respondents answered no which is
equivalent to 25%.
5. The percentage or number of respondents who answer in the question "If you
buy this, will you give it to someone?" 49 out of 52 respondents answered yes
which is equivalent to 94.2%. 3 out of 52 respondents answered no which is
equivalent to 5.8%.
6. The percentage or number of respondents who answer in the question "Will
you recommend our product to your colleagues?" 52 out of 52 respondents
answered yes which is equivalent to 100%.

CONCLUSION
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn.
1. The respondents believe that crochet earrings are suitable for teenagers in this
generation.
2. The respondents believe that crochet earrings are fashionable.
3. The respondents also believed crochet earrings are aesthetically pleasing.
4. Most of the respondents are willing to make crochet earrings.
5. The respondents strongly believed the crochet earrings had an affordable and
customer friendly price.
6. Majority of the respondents believed that crochet earrings are a recommended
product to colleagues.

RECOMMENDATION
The following recommendation is provided based on the study's findings and
conclusions:

1. The teens or students must use more of their creativity to pair crochet earrings
with items from their wardrobe in order to accurately assess how crochet earrings
affect teenagers' adherence to fashion trends.
2. For their attire to be attractive to the people they encounter, the students or
teenagers must know how to choose an earring that is appropriate for it.
3. Students or teenagers should keep in mind that in marketing, the product's
price and quality have a significant impact on consumers' purchasing decisions
and preferences.
4. If you influence others by styling your crochet earrings and matching them with
your outfit, you will persuade them to buy that type of product because they will
look good wearing it.
5. You will undoubtedly select a variety of earrings for various clothes and
situations. However, if you follow these basic recommendations, you can be sure
that the earrings will make you appear your best.
