Airline Irregular Operation

Irregular Operations (IROPs) are identified by airlines when disruptions cause customers to be unable to use their ticketed flights, such as flight delays, cancellations, diversions due to weather or mechanical issues. The objectives of air transport policy and regulation are to reduce costs of economic regulation for the state, increase consumer benefits and choices, improve air connectivity, and create more competitive business opportunities to contribute to sustainable economic development and expansion of trade and tourism.

Airline irregular Operation

Irregular Operations (IROPs) are identified by an airline or ground handler acting on behalf of an
airline when a disruption on the day of travel or the day prior to travel causes the customer to not
be able to use the flight(s) ticketed. An Irregular Operation (IROP) may be, but is not limited to,
a flight delay, cancellation, diversion due to weather, mechanical problem, landing restriction, air
traffic congestion, accident/aircraft damage, security concern, immigration issue, oversold flight,
boarding delay, crew shortage or other staff issues.

Air Transport Policy and Regulation 

The objectives of the air transport policy and regulation program are to:
 
o reduce State’s costs in performing its economic regulatory functions
o increase consumer's benefits and choices;
o improve air connectivity; and
o create more competitive business opportunities in the marketplace;
 
thereby contributing to the sustainable economic development and to the expansion of trade and
tourism.
