Proposal to make an Environment Club in Addu High School

Aim: The ultimate aim of the club is to create an environment cautious student community

Purpose
-

To provide students with the opportunity to learn more about their surroundings, participate in service projects at school and in the community.

To promote environmental awareness and develop social and life skills

To increase student awareness of environmental issues and give them power to advocate

To provide opportunities for students to become directly involved in a variety of projects relating to the environment.

To promote environmental awareness and empower students to take action and work toward building a sound environmental ethic

Objectives

Awareness: Helping student acquire an awareness and sensitivity to the total environment and its problems; developing the ability to perceive and discriminate among stimuli; process, refine and extend these perceptions; and use this new ability in a variety of contexts. Knowledge: Helping students acquire a basic understanding of how the

environment functions, how people interact with the environment, and how issues and problems dealing with the environment arise and how they can be resolved.

Attitudes: Helping student acquire a set of values and feelings of concern for the environment and the motivation and commitment to participate in environmental maintenance and improvement. Skills: Helping students acquire the skills need to identify, investigate, and contribute to the resolution of environmental issues and problems. Participation: Helping student acquire experience in using their acquired knowledge and skills in taking thoughtful, positive action toward the resolution of environmental issues and problems.

We humbly request the school management and the school student council to review our proposal to make an environmental club. For now we haven t decided to give a name to the club. However a name would be finalized as soon as the club gets registered. Moreover a meticulous action plan would be presented to the school once we kick start the club. We plan to get funds to our activities through writing proposals and by advocating high up stake holders in the society. The founder members of this club are very experienced in this field and to a great extent involved in community activities in Addu. And also we have relations with a good network of people in the government, and in local and international NGOs. So it would be very easy for us to run the club, without much difficulty. We look forward to get this club registered as soon as possible.
