Description This program strives to help learners in the Senior High Department become proficient and enthusiastic readers.

The program supplements classroom reading instructions Mactan National High School.

Reading Theory This program is using a top-down approach in reading. Its focus is on getting learners to read complete
sentences, paragraph, and books. This model relies on children mastering skills through experience. In top-down
approach, reading for meaning is the primary objective of reading, rather than mastery of letters, sound
relationships, and words. The experiences of the reader will help him or her to read, decode, and make sense of
the text because readers bring an understanding to the print, not print to the reader.
