SRA-LGAREC hosted its annual National In-house Review and Planning Workshop on June 4-5, 2004. Researchers from the Negros-Panay region presented papers which were evaluated by experts from various sectors of the sugar industry. The best papers for the year were awarded. The second day focused on planning future research projects. Additionally, SRA-LGAREC joined LGARDC in hosting the WESVARRDEC Sectoral Review in May, where researchers presented papers on various crop and animal studies.

SRA-LGAREC hosted this year SRAs National In-house Review and Planning Workshop on June 4-5, 2004. Research and extension personnel from Negros-Panay Region and the SRA-LAREC attended the 2-day annual review and planning. The review of researches was conducted on the first day. Mrs. Cresenciana L. Morales and Mr. Arthur Magnaye presented the synthesis of local pre in-house reviews while Mr. Marcelino M. Guevarra presented the summary of the previous year national review. Armones Five important personalities coming from various sectors of the industry were invited to evaluate the researches, namely: Mr. Luciano T. Magallanes Professor from La Carlota City College, as Chairman; Mr. Leon M. Arceo, Director General of PHILSURIN; Mr. Servillano R. Gumasing or UPLBCA-Research and Training Station; Mr.Teodulfo V. Infante, sugar planter; and Mr. Oscar T. Quilloy, coordinator of RDE of SRA.

The first day ended with a dinner and fellowship highlighting the announcement of Best Papers and awarding of certificates. This year s best papers were:

Several SRA-LGAREC personnel took an active part in various committees running the whole affair. The second day was dedicated to the Planning workshop. Mr. Oscar T. Quilloy and Mrs. Cresenciana L. Morales presented the on-going and proposed researches for LAREC and LGAREC respectively, while Mrs. Lourdes T. Escarilla presented the programs and projects of IR&D for Bacolod. After a busy day, participants were treated with a fellowship night, which included awarding of certificates.

SRA-LGAREC joins LGARDC in Hosting WESVARRDEC Sectoral Review


The La Granja Agricultural Research and Development Center (LGARDC) hosted this years WESVARRDEC Sectoral review, conducted at SRA-LGAREC on May 27-28, 2004. Dr. Rodrigo E. Tapay, CESO IV and Manager III, SRA-Negros and Panay welcomed the participants. Attended by researchers and extensionists from WESVARRDEC member-agencies, the sectoral review included eighteen paper presentations on various crops and animal studies.
