REGISTRATION GUIDELINES

CONGRATULATIONS for being selected to join the CENTRE FOR FOUNDATION STUDIES OF
THE INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA

This information is provided to prepare you for registration at the University. Please read the guidelines
carefully and follow the instructions given.

Kindly follow the procedures and read the information as stated in the OFFER LETTER to prepare
yourself for the online enrollment which will automatically qualify you as a registered student.

1. ACCEPTANCE/REJECTION/DEFERMENT OF OFFER

1.1 You are requested to ACCEPT or REJECT our offer of admission at

1.2 If you have accepted the offer but wish to defer the registration, it is allowed for one (1) academic
year from the offered semester. Please submit an official letter to the following address prior to the
commencement of the semester for which this offer of admission is issued:

1.3 Please provide valid reasons for the deferment.

1.4 If you decide to decline the offer, please take note that you may not be considered for admission into
any IIUM undergraduate programme in the future and no further appeal for admission will be
entertained.

1.5 Please keep a copy of your Offer Letter as the University will not provide it for future reference.

2.3 Payment can be made by means of :

Evidence of payment must be uploaded in the enrolment system for recording purposes. You are
advised to keep the related receipts / documents / copy of bank-in slip as proof of your payment
for reference. If there is no submission, it is assumed that no payment has been made.

2.4 Bantuan Kewangan Asasi (BKA)

Students who are ENTITLED for Bantuan Kewangan Asasi (BKA), KPT (household income
below RM10,959/month), are required to open a Saving Account at any branch of Bank
Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (BMMB).

approval by the University authority.

3. MEDICAL CHECKUP

All new students are required to undergo compulsory Medical Checkup at the IIUM SEJAHTERA
CLINIC (ISC) only. Kindly note that medical checkup done at any place other than ISC will not be
accepted.

You are required to bring a COMPLETE Medical Checkup form (with list of regular medicines taken if
any) during the Medical Checkup by ISC Medical Officer.
Please paste a recent colour passport size photograph (taken within 6 months) on the form.

Kindly note Chest x-ray is not compulsory for Malaysian students. It will be done at additional cost if

4. DISABILITY SERVICES UNIT (DSU)

The University believes in creating an enabling and inclusive environment to


allow all students to perform to their maximum potential regardless of their
disabilities. As such, if you have any kind of disability (physical, sensory, speech,
intellectual or mental), please contact the Disability Services Unit (DSU) at
dsu@iium.edu.my as soon as possible, preferably at least 1(one) month before the
physical registration day (if applicable), to allow sufficient time for early
preparations to accommodate your special needs (if any). For further information,

Disclaimer:
The University promotes an inclusive education for all and is in the process of upgrading its
facilities to accommodate the special needs of applicants with disabilities. Until then, the applicants
are advised that some programmes may not be able to provide a conducive learning environment as
befits their needs as yet. A disabled applicant has a right to study the programme that he/she
has applied for, as long as he/she has fulfilled the merit requirement and/or equivalent
requirement in accordance to his/her disability as provided by the University authority and/or
a professional body of the programme. However, the final decision lies with the University.

5. STUDENT SMARTCARD

6. MAHALLAH (RESIDENTIAL)

All students are required to stay on campus. The room in our Mahallah consists of 4 compartments that can
accommodate 4 students. Each student will be provided with basic facilities in his/her room. Meanwhile,
common facilities are also available at each Mahallah i.e. self-service laundry, study room, TV room,
general store (kiosk), stationery kiosk.

7. ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST (EPT) & ARABIC PLACEMENT TEST (APT)


7.1 The English Language Department of Centre for Foundation Studies (ELD CFS) conducts the English
Placement Test (EPT) every year for new students with the aim to place each student into different
levels of English classes based on their English proficiency level.
If students miss the EPT with valid reasons, they will sit for EPT with second intake students.

Ta’aruf Programme.

7.3 The Arabic Placement Test (APT) Entrance is a compulsory placement test to all IIUM new students
of the Centre for Foundation Studies, (CFS) IIUM. Regardless of their specializations, these students
must sit for APT at the beginning of the admission process to measure their proficiency in Arabic
language to ensure proper placement of the students into Quranic language courses (LQM). It is
advised that students prepare well for the test as the results will determine the length of studies in CFS.

APT, which is a yearly assessment for new students joining CFS IIUM, is conducted by the Test and
Measurement Unit (TEMU), Department of Quranic Language (QLD) with the help and support from
other departments in CFS IIUM. The result of APT will determine student’s Arabic level in LQM
courses. The courses provide ample opportunities for students to strengthen their Arabic language
skills through task-based and collaborative learning.

The courses offered in QLD are mainly divided into courses for English Medium Programmes and
Arabic Medium Programmes :

8. TA’ARUF PROGRAMME

It is compulsory for all new students to attend the Ta’aruf Programme conducted by the University. The
purpose of the Ta’aruf Programme is to familiarize new students with the campus activities and services,
