1 Introduction

1.1 Introduction
The Nissan Diagnostic Software (CONSULT-IIIplus R2R) is a J2534-1 based vehicle diagnostic tool that is used for
the diagnosis of vehicles. This application can be used with validated J2534-1 version 5.00 compliant pass-thru
device.
This manual describes supplemental information specifically applicable for CONSULT-IIIplus R2R. Refer Operation
Manual for details.
1.2 Functionalities supported and limitations
This application supports the following functionalities:
• Diagnosis and repair of vehicles
• Configuration of the ECU
• Reprogramming/Programming
Following functionalities are disabled:
• Immobilizer
Due to hardware limitations, following functions are disabled of limited use.
• VDR(Vehicle Data Recorder)

• Data recording

Note: Performance of data monitoring (Refresh rate) will be strongly affected by the number of items. Reducing items will

improve performance.

Observe the following items.

• Operation must be performed by personnel who have appropriate knowledge and technique necessary for automobile
maintenance.

• Check that the operation environment is appropriate for the PC that is used for diagnosis. Refer to the operation manual
of the PC for PC specifications and operation procedures.

• A pass-thru interface (including firmware version) validated by NISSAN MOTOR CO., LTD. is recommended for
diagnostic use. The software may not operate correctly when a pass-thru interface (including firmware version) other than

a validated one is used.

• Refer to the operation manual of the pass-thru device for operation procedures of the pass-thru device.

• Some contents in this Operation Manual may differ due to specification changes in later releases of the software.

• Information in this Operation Manual is subject to change without notice.

2 System Requirements

This section explains the hardware and software specification.

2.1 Hardware Requirements

Storage 500GB HDD/SSD or larger
LCD 1024x768 (XGA) or larger with touch panel
Hardware Platform
x2 or more USB 2.0 or above ports
One ISO7816/smart card slot or Cardbus slot – For GT-R(CSP) security card
(Plus necessary interfaces for J2534 v5.00 device.)
Validated J2534 v5.00 VCI device

2.2 Software Requirements

3 Installation

3.1 Prerequisites
The following conditions need to be satisfied before installing the Application.
1. Installer will check available disk space on the system. If required space is not available on the system then installation
process will be aborted.
Network authentication is required for installation. Make sure that the PC can access to the internet and your Techinfo user
ID/Password are valid before installation.
2. If CONSULT-IIIplus R2R Application is already installed on the system then installer will check its version. If the version
is not higher than that of installer version then the installed version will be upgraded else the installation will be aborted.
3. Device driver of the VCI device must be installed.

4. Access right of administrator required.

3.2 Installation Procedure

The following table explains the procedure for installing the application:

1. Double click on the setup.exe file.

2. Enter the Techinfo User ID and Password.

3. Click [Login].

 4. Click [First Installation].

5. Read License Agreement carefully and check

[I Accept …] then Click [Next].

6. Click [Next].

 7. Click [Next].

8. Check a default language.

Note: Language can be switched later from the
menu on application.

9. Choose units and Click [Next].

 10. Select default brand channel and click [Next].
Note: Brand channel selected here will be
reflected to a default selection on vehicle
selection screen.

11. Confirm selection and click [Next].

(Press [Back] to change selections if
necessary).

12. Installation in progress.

 13. Click [Install].

14. Installation completed. Click [Finish].

4 Application Procedure

4.1 Launching software and Interface selection

1. Double click the desktop icon [CONSULT-III
plus] to launch the application.
Note: User must have access rights of
administrator.

2. This screen will be displayed when the

application is launched.

3. Click [Select VI/MI] button.

4. Click [VCI] button to proceed to the pass-thru

device selection screen.

 5. Select a model name.

6. Select a device.

7. Click [Connect].
